Some new WIP's and an update to my Captain America.
I big thanks to unknownsoldier13 for making me aware of the Tri-Gate Creations classic Cap head, and of course a big thanks to Tri-Gate for making it!
I just have the eyes left to do, and frankly doing them scares the hell out of me.
I was also messing around with alternate Wolverine heads, and decided to try the Toy Biz Showdown head on the new Hasbro brown costume Wolverine body. I liked it so I repainted the yellow to match up with his costume, and also modified the hands to be easily removable, so I can swap them with a pair that has the claws trimmed off.
I always liked the Wolverine and Kitty Pryde mini-series where Wolverine has to fight his old mentor Ogun. Recently I had heard about Marvel having him return in the form of a spirit that could "posess" people. They eventually got rid of him, again, but I wanted to make a newer version of Ogun in a new body.
I liked the Tri-Gate head, so I decided to use it as an updated to Ogun's original red demon mask.
The base figure is obviuosly a Ninja Viper, and he uses a red Ninja backpack. I cut the arrows off of the pack, and drilled a couple of small holes in it, to hold the nunchucks. They are removable.
I also used the Ninja Viper swords, and cut and filed one down the the same length as the Storm Shadow / Red Ninja short sword, to fit in the pack correctly.
I still need to remove his Cobra symbol, and I want to do something with his lower arms, but I'm not sure what yet.
Juggernaut is one character that I don't think has had, what I would consider, a "perfect" figure yet. So I decided to quit waiting, and make one myself.
While I really liked the Toy Biz Showdown version, he was too small for me. I prefer to use the movie sized Hulk. So I like to have my other large guys match up relatively, in size. I never thought of the Thing being at the same strength as the Hulk, so his Showdown and new Marvel Universe figures work just fine for me. Juggernaut however, I always thought of as being able to hold his own against the Hulk. At least for a while. So his figure needed to be bigger.
The older Toy Biz Juggernaut figures were ok, but not great. I don't mind slightly "ape-ish" proportions on Juggernaut, but some of the figures were ridiculous. On some figures the articulation also left a LOT to be desired. The new Spider Man series Juggernaut was
too big, and I really didn't like the way his helmet looked, when it was on his head. It made him too much of a "bullet head", and overall just didn't look right to me.
I used the legs and waist from an X-Men vs. Street Fighter Juggernaut.
This gave him good sized legs, with some nice big feet for stability. The articulation isn't great, but it's good enough for me. I never thought of Juggernaut as being as agile as Spidey, and frankly he always seemed like he would rather stand tall and a hit, than dodge around. So the t-crotch and jointed knees were adequate enough.
I added the torso and arms of the new Spider Man series Juggernaut.
These gave him a better scaled torso and arms, and added a lot of upper body articulation. He now has ball jointed shoulders and elbows, with wrist swivels and retains his mid-torso bend.
I still have to do some filing to make his helmet (also from the X-Men vs. SF figure) sit down all the way, completely covering his neck / shoulder flesh. I am also planning on painting his torso "ribbing" to match his boots, and I am going to add a belt that will cover the joint where his torso attaches to his waist.
Height-wise he is now only about a half inch shorter than the movie Hulk figure.
As always comments are critiques are most welcome, and thanks for looking!
