Here are some test shots with a handful of my customs (some complete, some not). The detail in the room is amazing. Hard to see in pictures, but the lights all work, and work well. "thank you for meeting me here today...I'm sure some of you know why you were called" "no Adam, it wasn't just for the beer and a game of cards." "Steve and I have an announcement to make. What? No Adam, we're not coming out of any closets. Screw it, enough with the pleasantries. EXCAL is reforming the Adventure Team. The core team is already in place, and you have each been invited to join. You will meet the new AT leader if you choose to do so. As you can see, Cleopatra has already accepted this invitation. Adam and Jamie, we need your tech support and innovations, as you'll be doing things beyond the normal protocols of my EXCAL Science Division." "Dirk, I know we should have given you a call sooner, but we could really use you back with the team again, especially now that your committment to NUMA has expired. [Austin speaking: "Col. Pitt, you need to know that Doc and I will both be very hands-off with the new Adventure Team. This team will need to make its own identity. But your guidance as an original team member would be welcomed"] Doc: "This is especially true since the first mission, which you will be briefed on shortly, will address the long unanswered question: 'Where's Race Bannon?'" Here's a shot of the room lit up only by the built-in fixtures: |

I luv her already. I can see why she's award winning. Like I wrote earlier, you're so lucky. The only thing I ever get from my sister's is grief. Love the functionality and the lived in appeal. Oh, and the dialogue screams. That is exactly what I do when I create a piece, whether for myself or commission. I pose a fer figs to check scale, the next thing I know dialogue is being written. Awesome D, truly awesome. |

I remember seeing a preview of this awhile ago, looks like it came together fantastically. The only thing I don't like about this is that it makes it harder for me to justify my hobby as Action Figure Collecting and not Doll Collecting. What really makes a difference is the use of the interior lights to light the shot. That alone adds so much realism; it's almost like you can smell the cigar smoke eeking from the walls. I may have to just throw in the towel and start taking diorama building advice from dollhouse makers from now on. |

That's high quality stuff. Do you have pictures of some of her other work? |

Thanks everyone for the comments. I'll be sure she sees them. I know I previewed the room before, but only now did I have it in hand to show how well it fits the joes. Eric, your compliments are good as gold, especially when it comes to this kind of project. And yeah, I couldn't resist the dialogue once the shots had been taken. John, thanks bro, as always for taking a peek. I know my sister will appreciate the kind words. Pentastar, thanks for commenting. You're right that the lights really put it over the top. And these pics don't come close to doing the lighting justice. In person, especially with the lighting in my office dimmed, the interior of the room literally jumps to life. I have a decent camera, so I'll have to keep playing with the settings til I capture that feel. As I look here, there are details in the room that I didn't capture with this initial set of photos, and I need to post more. There's a shelf that runs along the top of the wall for one thing, and details of the furnishings is another. She made all the pool cues, for example, and the chair is a plastic dollhouse chair that she upholstered in leather using materials from an old wallet! Soulgem, thanks also. My sis has a blog where she posts her stuff, and I just need to dig the link up from my memory banks... |
