Hi all,

I've been lurking this site for ages now, I think all the way back to the Bivouac days, enjoying everyone's work and learning about the hobby. I've dabbled with customizing on and off throughout each era of Joe but the 25th line got me into doing it seriously about a year ago. My original plan was to post all of my stuff starting at the beginning but a lot of the older ones are packed away at the moment, so here are four newish figures.

Crosshair - You can see I cut into his cheek while getting the old neck peg off. Tried fixing it with glue, but nothing doing so far.

Muskrat -

Rumbler - When I started customizing, my plan was to focus on original and obscure characters that Hasbro was unlikely to make, assuming that I would eventually meet Hasbro in the middle. With all the ROC stuff on the way, it looks like I was wrong, but I continue to make the weirdos anyway.

Nunchuk - This actually started out as a much more complex custom using mixed parts and a full paint job. It wasn't going the way I wanted at all, so I went the LBC route out of frustration and I'm pretty happy with the results.

And now a question - Is it OK to keep using the attachments feature for multi-pic threads or should I look into getting a Photobucket account?

Thanks. Looking forward to comments and critique.

Great work.

you could always swipe crosshairs cheek with pink and call it a battle scar.

Welcome aboard!

They all look great - but I think Crosshair and Nunchuck are my favorites. Really great ideas on both figs.

As for attachments vs Photobucket - I prefer Photobucket since I usually post a boatload of pics in my threads. With attachments, you're limited to 3 per post. There used to be a limit on the number of attachments/files per user, but I don't know if that's still an issue or not.

I agree with Chief. These two are awesome. Only thing I would change on Nunchuk are the lower legs and forearms. I would love to see wrapped feet like the new Storm Shadow, but considering how simple the custom is, it works well.

Always fun when a long time lurker joins the fray - it's how I got started too, watching for awhile before trying my own hand. Welcome aboard. Agree with the others that it's nice to add some more talent to the mix. Crosshairs is well done - I really wouldn't have noticed a scar had you not said something. And I like Rumbler actually. An interesting parts combo.

I think I'd dig Muskrat more if it was a more muted shade of green, but this might be a better likeness to the original. I have a hard time liking that particular fugly head on any figure, but that's Hasbro's problem, not yours. lol

As for photos - I switched to photobucket for the same reason as Chief, I like to post multiple pics of each figure, and with the attachments, that can take a lot longer. Also, I usually had to resize my pics to attach them, whereas I can just send them straight to photobucket and be good. This also helps if you post to multiple sites.

Welcome to the fam Mr. Marvin (great name by the way) I've always been a fan of Lee Marvin. great looking custom, Crosshairs and Muskrat have always been two of my favorites.

Your Nunchuck is great, we like LBC's aroung here.

Way to knock it out of the park!

I like all of these. Not only do the customs themselves look great, but the idea of doing characters that are kinda far down on the list makes them even better.

I can't even see the cut on Crosshairs cheek, so it's not a big deal.

If you wanted to fix it, I think there are two options.

1) Since there was a Night Force Crosshairs, how about painting on some muted black facepaint (streaks). Not so much paint, but just a bit of a wash to either indicate stubble, gunpowder residue, or the face camo. Heck, you could even include a small tube of the facepaint to indicate he's just starting to apply the stuff.

2) How about an olive drab bandaid?

Good work and looking forward to your other stuff.

Thanks for the warm welcome all. It's fun to finally participate after around ten years of lurking.

Let's see.

Hat, Head, Sniper Rifle - JvC Crosshair
Vest - JvC Gung Ho, I think
Upper Arms,Hands - Wild Weasel
Lower Arms, Torso, Legs, Scarf - Beachhead

Lots of good suggestions regarding my little screw-up. I think I'll either leave it as is (it is rather small) or try the scar idea.

Sounds like a mix of both might be possible. Thanks for the info.

I had some Storm Shadow lower arms popped in there, but there was a Popeye effect going on so I swapped them back out for Stalker's. I did want him to look a bit more like the original, so maybe this is one I'll revise someday.

Ha. I don't like that gnarly Flash head either but I'm trying to force myself into using some of the older/uglier/more plentiful heads these days. I used the same one on a Budo that I'll post soon.

That's good, because I have more. ;) I like trying to make parts work with as little paint as possible sometimes, especially after doing a few full customs in a row. It can be just as satisfying and works a different set of creative muscles.

:-) I'm a lurker now. No digcam at moment, & getting ready to move. But I intend to start showing my work soon.
I love all of these.... especially Nunchuk!

Nunchuk looks great for a LBC custom. I wouldn't have thought it would look so perfect if you just told me, but seeing it I knew who it was right away. The rest are good, but it is him that really knocked my socks off.

As for attachments. Chief answered it exactly right. We allow 3 pics per post. So if you have more than 3 pics, then post the next ones in a new post in the same thread (if it is the same day). You can link to photobucket account too.

Man, it is SO good to see a 25A Crosshair, and one so expertly executed! He's one of my favorite modern era characters, and if I saw this custom at the store, I would buy it. The others are great too, but that Crosshair is outstanding.

Welcome! I look forward to seening what else you have in store for us.
