For anyone who does not know, Captain Scarlet was a puppet show made by Thunderbirds creator Gerry Anderson back in 1967:

Yes, this was made for children and young teens. In England. The model work is particularly fantastic. 32 half-hour episodes were made

Captain Scarlet was the very first custom figure that I did any sculpting on. This is now the 25th anniversary of my making that figure, and several other characters from the series:

I figured it was time to make my own 'Anniversary Set'. But this time, I was really going to pull out all the stops, and do figures that I could only dream of making all those years ago.

Well, I have almost finished the set. I started in early April and 31 figures and nearly £250 later, here is the result. I will be revealing one wave of figures and/or a special set per week.

Just one point of note. Please don't bother printing out the Spectrum Bar-Code from the back of the Captain Scarlet card and sending them to me, as some people find the phrase: "Go stick your head in a bucket of water!" offensive. ;D ;):-D

I will post a full list of figures and parts used with Wave 4

Wave 2 and an 'Exclusive Comic Con Set' next week!

Interesting. This is my first time hearing of the show but it looks like it would have been fun to watch. I'm sure a great many of us would love to get our hands on the extras and props used in it too.

I remember seeing this on cable as a kid and thought it was awesome.

These figures take me right back.

Fantastic likeness to the originals. Truly a lot of work went into these guys. I like the turban on the security officer. Looks pretty good.

Fantastic Kam, I have a lit/creative writing prof that will freak the hell out when I show her these.

Thanks for the feedback. I thought that a Sikh security officer would look visually different to anything we saw on screen and make it unique.

danielb, if your creative writing teacher is a fan of the series, I suggest that she heads over to:

http://www.spectrum-headquarters.com

Great peopel over there with an intense love for the series, and some incredible fan-fiction. If she likes these, just wait until she sees Wave 2 and the '2068 Unity City Comic Convention Exclusive' next week! ;-)

I have tweaked one or two details from the original designs. I wanted a couple of updates, so I painted up and colour-coded Mk23 SOCOM pistols (Marauder, of course ;-) ). All of the Spectrum ooficers in the series had pistols to match the colour of their uniforms.

The blocky looking pistol that Scarlet and Blue are carrying is also an update. I used the comic pack Mara Jade pistol for this. . In one episode, they discovered that electricity could kill Mysterons and prevent them coming back to life. Spectrum developed a weird looking 'rifle':

Image

I figured that this was just a prototype. The series went into production two years before the Taser Corporation started work. By the year 2068, there would be some pretty sophisticated weapons out there.
The new pistol uses wire-less cartridges like the modern XREP shotgun. 5 round magazine with cartridges set to stun, but with a high capacity battery attached to the magazine which means that the cartridge can be ramped up to lethal capacity.

And there are another 25 figures to come!

And hopefully a playset.
