Ok, so today begins my "weekend", so I was able to touch up & finish a batch of customs that I intended to show back in my "Gotham" thread. But since not all these guys are Gotham natives, I figured I'd start a new thread.

I've been waiting for a suitable MU base figure for a while - and found what I needed in Warpath. Problem is, the dude was too tall, so I had to make some mods in order to finish this guy:

Image

Had to shorten his legs and swap out his hands. Problem is, the Warpath wrists are super-skinny to accommodate his wrist bands. That, coupled with the also-skinny nature of the MM wrists made it necessary to keep the wristbands for now. I will eventually sand them down or sculpt replacements to give it a smoother look, but I'm fine with it for now. Here are some WIP and comparison shots:

Next are a few updated Batman Rogues.

Image

I didn't like the ROC CC armored chest on my LBC Joker, so I went and salvaged the sculpted torso from my 25A Joker custom and tweaked it a bit. For Harvey, I really wanted to just leave him with a single-colored suit. But when I updated my Alfred with Destro's pants, I needed to differentiated Two-Face's outfit a bit. The arrival of 2 new SDCC Destro packs (got both for only $20 ea shipped!) allowed me the necessary freedom to go ahead and give Harvey a paint job. Nothing spectacular, but he's more Two-Facey now.

Riddler's a new one - I've been wanting to make him for a long time, but didn't know which way to go. After I built Alfred, I had leftover parts and threw them together along with a Xamot head and a modded Indy fedora and he just came together. I'll eventually put a question mark on his bowler hat, but for now I'm leaving him logo-less. I also had a cane built for him, but then decided that I never cared for the caned look anyway, so I scrapped it. He needs some touch-ups around the mask, but he's nearly complete.

Sputnik's post prompted me to make a Stephanie Brown Spoiler/Batgirl:

Image

Just a ROC Scarlett with Helix legs, ROC Ana lower arms and a Micro Batgirl head. I managed to alter the head enough to get rid of some of the cartoony-ness, but I need to paint it again to give her a more serious look. I noticed that the ROC RA Scarlett torso really lends itself to painting a Bat symbol on the chest - the contours of the armor have a near built-in symbol already. I need to go back over her with a different shade of purple once I pick some up - she doesn't need to match all the bad guys.

Robin is my previous custom with some new lower legs to make him more in-scale with the MU-based customs (and I wanted him at least as tall as his girlfriend ;) ) -- folks have asked if I plan to make a comic-accurate version, but I figure it this way: Bats isn't going to put minors in harm's way without some kind of protection, so both Robin & Batgirl are going to have some degree of body armor unlike Bats and Nightwing, who are older and more seasoned.

Finally, here's a group shot of my current incarnation of the Justice League:

Image

I updated Flash to give him a different head (this is a JvC Flint modded - I used it for my Microman Flash) and new hands. I like him a lot better than my previous version, which used a modded Serpentor head (with that dead look in his eyes) and CC gauntlets instead of form-fitting gloves.

Now that I've got the Warpath recipe for Supes, I'm going to use the same trick and update Hawkman, Marvel, & J'onn - those MLS Magneto bodies pale in comparison to the Warpath mold. Time to upgrade once a gain ;)

Cheers!

The joker looks rough, but I don't have any other advice than "fix it".

Also, wtf is with giving supes outside panties and not batsy?

Aliens can get away with that "LASER BLAST". And Bats has appeared enough times in comics & movies without panties that it works better for me. I think Supes has been sporting panties non-stop since the late 30s, however.... ;)

great bunch of customs dan, I like batgirl and robin for sure.
Warpath does work for a good superman besides the wristbands,
all of the bad guys look pretty good too and two face looks the best I think

Have you shown that Cy-Borg before? I don't remember seeing it before.

Really liking all of these, but the heroes have a more "finished" feel than the villains for some reason.

Not sure if that's helpful or even makes sense. Just an overall impression I get...like more time/thought/work went into the heroes and the subtle differences just make for a more polished final look.

Thanks guys --

I intentionally made Joker look sloppy in places to replicate the "grimy" feel of the movie appearance while still keeping elements of the comic look. The "dirtied" clothes along with the smeared makeup was done after he was complete.

I guess I'm the only one who sees that - :-/ But, since I'm the one who'll be playing with these guys, that's all that really matters ;)

well you saved the best for last in my eyes, only cause of how awesome Batgirl is. She really steals the thunder from Sups, even though Sups is awesome in his own right. (I continue to chuckle at the panties discussion, but I think you made the right call on both he and Batman, lol).

I think the Joker works much better than the previous CC torso. I'm curious about the upper torso, and the lines between the vest and the shirt. It is slightly hard to tell what parts are what there in the wide pic. I think you did great with Two-face as well. I think Riddler is missing something, so maybe the logo on the cap will address that. Only real critique I'd have in any form is that it looks in the pics like Superman has an always surprised eye issue going on. But it may just be because of how vibrant his blue eyes are in the photos... I know that's how it is when people take pictures of me... :shifty:

Another great post though. Is it wrong that I look forward to your days off?

Thanks fellas!

Funny how Batgirl seems to be garnering the most praise, yet she had the least amount of work put into her. Still - glad she's a hit. And with such a painfully easy recipe, it should be child's play for anyone who wants to make their own.

Gotta send a HUGE thanks and a lot of love to the very generous, the very humble, the very sexy P-luv for sending me these mini penguins:

Image

He featured his "henchmen" penguins in this thread -- and I fell in love with them. So it was a wonderful surprise to get my own set in the mail today.

Gotta dig up some mini-missiles & goggles, but the fact that I now have these cute little fellas on-hand made me grab a sanding bit for my Dremel and revisit my old Penguin custom.

Image

He still needs to be touched up on the paint (got the penguins this evening and started working frantically to get at least a passable Pengy), but at least the sculpting is a lot cleaner than before. I'm tired of searching for a newer base figure, so for now, the Chap Mei dude will have to do. I put too much work into him (he was supposed to be an entry for the Batman Rogues NJC a few years back) to "LASER BLAST" him now. And with my new larger-scaled Gotham figs, he actually fits in a lot better than before. Need to get rid of those giant hands, though.

If you're curious - here's the base figure I used for him. The only difference is a crapload of sculpting, sanding, and a JLU Zatanna hat.

Image

Anyway - thanks again, Pluv- you're awesome.

Chief they all look great. But I would spend a little time with the dremel and sand off the wrist bands on your Superman base. Then fill in with apoxie sculpt. Also I would suggest brightening his reds a bit. They seem a little dull and Supes should pop out at you.The Riddler looks spot on to his Hush appearance but I would lighten his purple a bit and add a question mark to his tie. The Spoiler/Batgirl is really great and my only suggestion would be to maybe try a cut vinyl Yellow emblem.
