As I mentioned in my PIT review, I was pretty disappointed with the Hawk figure that came with the playset. He had orange skin, early Indy-figure paint apps, and shrimpy, bowed legs. I did like his jacket, though. I had some time to spare, so I cracked the figure open and bashed together a better version (IMO) using pieces from the superior single card Hawk.

Parts:
Jacket and arms (minus hands): PIT Hawk
Everything else: Single card Hawk

Nice. I just love the LBCiness of the RoC figures.

I have the Pit Hawk and an extra single card figure but haven't pulled the trigger on doing this swap myself. Seeing how good it looks I think I'll just go ahead and do it.

looks really nice. Can I ask a dumb question? what method are you using to crack open the ROC torsos? The best methods I used on the 25th figs aren't working as well on the more tightly designed ROC torsos.

I use a table vise. Basically, you wrap the figure in fabric (an old sock works well) and then put it in the vise so that the vise is pressing on its shoulders (arms pointed straight down). Then, just close the vise until it pops open. Easiest way I've found. Never had any problems (breaking or what-have-you).

Man, I wish Big H would put out a Hawk like that, heck put him in the brown jacket, green camos from the end of the movie.

Darko, I will have to give your vise method a try after burying a x-acto blade in my index finger when it snapped as I was trying to pop open a Kamakura.

That's a very interesting technique.

Any chance you could do a tutorial for it, for the JCWiki?

Also, what kind of mods did you do to T-Shirt Hawk's hands to make them fit into Jacket Hawk's wrists? I've noticed the hand pegs on the two are very different.

Yeah, I've been planning on doing a tutorial on it for awhile now. It's not my idea originally, I forget who first suggested it. But next time I need to crack open a figure, I'll take some pictures.

As far as the hand swap, I had to trim the pegs on the t-shirt hawk hands and then *slightly* increase the size of the holes on the Pit hawk arms.

I find the roc torsos are easier to crack open besides any snake eyes so far, the artic and city strike were a pain in the butt....

Looks great. The only thing better would be one, like someone else mentioned, that had a brown jacket, green camo, and no beret :D.
