Post subject:  Robot Rebellion Day 5: Major Bludd and Dr Mindbender
The Robot Rebellion has Begun…

Half-human and half-machine, Overkill is the ambitious leader of the Cobra B.A.T. army. He has covertly been plotting to destroy Cobra Commander and to lead his legions of Battle Android Troopers to World domination. Sensing that the right moment has arrived, Overkill’s troops turn on their human masters and take over all of Cobra’s B.A.T. factories around the World. From these staging points, they strike at several nations simultaneously. Unprepared for an all-out assault by legions of robot troopers, the military forces of these nations fall quickly. Now, controlling vast industrial resources, Overkill turns his attention to destroying Cobra and G.I. Joe…

About this project:
These will be the last figures for this project for a little while. I fully intend to continue to add to the series. I have some ideas for a Joe ''BAT Buster Squad'' and of course, more types of BATs.

In the meantime, Major Bludd is loosely based on his DTC version:

The DTC version is probably my favorite take on the good Major. I wasn't going for a direct copy, but I tried to capture the flavor of the DTC version.

As for Mindbender, he is directly based on the cancelled 1995 Battle Corps version:

I figured that a battle armored version of Mindbender would fit right in the Robot Rebellion theme.

The last pic is the group shot of the Robot Rebellion Cobra Command. I have ideas for Destro and Baroness and have started working on Storm Shadow. So, more will be coming soon.

This another one of those projects where the individual figures look pretty good, but that group shot just sells it.

Bluddy good stuff!

I've always rather liked Bludd's DTC look, and this is a great homage.

And Mindbender...only he could make purple so menacing.

Yeah, these both rock - Bludd looks better-than-production and Bendy is just plain awesome - great parts combo on him.

What brand/shade of purple did you use? It's hard to find a good purple that doesn't scream "fabulous!!" :brawlin: - and you managed to do just that :P

Those are all incredible. I really enjoy your interpretation of Bludd. Slick transition from a cool DTC to an even better 25th-ish. I'd keep a close eye on Bindy though, Sputnik maybe a lurkin'!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments. :-) Actually, I'm a bit surprised that Mr Sputnik hasn't come by yet. :shifty:

Chief, the purple is Tamiya Purple X-16. The only downside is that it isn't available in flat finish, only gloss. In this case, it works fine for armor, but it does limit it's uses.

I like bludd, nice look for him and like others said his DTC look was cool.I guess I'm the only one sofar that doesn't like mindbender but he is painted good

Both look nice. Nothing really pops from Bludd, but a successful translation of his DTC look.

Mindbender, however, rules. Great concept and execution. Love the nod to the Project 95 Mindbender

You can use a matte clear coat (brush or spray) over the purple and it will yield a matte finish. Learned that from Bad Ash. Would've been great to know years ago.
