Post subject: Cobra Medi-Vipers - Updated w/ new pic 2/15

I picked up a couple of the Heet Seek Missle Systems from Wal-Mart and thought the Scrap Iron that accompanied them was a miserable figure...as Scrap Iron. But once I stripped it of it's head and accessories, I saw some potential.

I'd been wondering how I was going to do Medi-Vipers, and the very subtle purple tinge to the modified Viper/Cobra Trooper uniform Scraps was wearing made me think they'd fit right into my Cobra Science Corps as field-level pill pushers and super-glue dispensers. So I set about cannibalizing a couple of DTC Medi-Vipers for useable scraps.

Here's where I landed:

What do you guys think?

EDIT 2/15 - Per some of the feedback I got on these guys, I've given them belts that address their bare waist issues while bringing the red through more of the outfit.

Thanks for the ideas, all.

Whoa - cool idea. I am (was) in the same pickle - two utterly worthless Scrap Irons sitting here on my desk. Now to go dig up my Medi-Vipers to salvage for parts....

Thanks Spinny!

I'd paint the kneepads green to match like you did the right thigh pouch. They stick out a bit much especially with no other red on the figure.

Aside from that these are well done. I was going to use mine for Stinger troopers but might rethink that idea now.

I agree with Mysterious Stranger, paint the kneepads to match the rest of the green and these figures will be pure win!

Very creative updates of the characters. I agree on the kneepads and would also like to suggest add a thin belt or painting where there belt would be to tone down the gray through the lower torso/ upper legs.

Nice job on the medi-vipers. The incorporation of the DTC parts is seamless. I agree that the kneepads should match the rest of the gear. The nanite syringe is a great accessory for the medi-vipers. The overall concept and execution is great.

That's nice. I too have two more WM Scraps than I want, but I'd need five to meet my minimum troop requirement. Still, these look nice, and they're an excellent inspiration. The kneepads don't bother me, but I do think they could use a red cross patch on the upper arm somewhere.

I'd paint some Rex or Hawk/Baroness briefcases white/silver and slap a red cross on em to complete the look.

That works. I see what everyone is saying about the knee pads but I kind of like them like this. It ties it back to the red.

Agreed, the kneepads match all the Cobra sigils, I think it looks good.

Thanks for the kind words and good ideas, fellas.

I think I may split the difference and give them red belts to tie in with the sigils and the kneepads.

I'll post an updated pic once that's done.

nice, i wonder if the figure could be slightly dyed to get the cyan colour through it.

I see that on the figure there is a place for a belt. I also see there is a vertical section right on their middle vertically.

Would a red cross work there?

If not, I think a black belt would work best.

Nice updates, colors work well. If I only had time to take this look to the ARAH verse I could have the Medi-Vipers that I have wanted for so long.
