the roc mole pod is probably ranked as highly liked among joe collectors as the cobra pogo of 87'. just my suspicion, i happen to like them both myself, but i digress. the mole pod looks like it was built from the top down and they just gave up on the bottom. i wanted to give this vech a makeover and make it more useful while looking more menacing. so i took some left over hiss treads and extra parts from the 84 whale and put them into the mix and we have the Cobra Snake Tunneler!

my idea is that the drill plows through mtn rock to drill for bunkers and such. the debris is distributed around the vech into the circular chopping fan. the material is turned into fine dust to be used as masonary reinforcement for the new tunnel bored. there is a pin through the fan and carriage which locks into the seat inside the cockpit. the turbine actually spins! manually of course.

i haven't given the pilot a name or taken pics of him yet, i'll add those when i get them photo'd. i have lots of vechs done and a lot of wips that i'll be showing soon.

will add more pics soon, stay tuned, and thanks for looking!

I don't know how practical this would be but it looks freaking cool.

With the color scheme you've used it looks like it could be used by the Adventure Team

I love the way that thing looks! My first thought when Isaw it was that it looks like it would be carried by Thunderbird 2. (I always liked the smaller Thunderbird vehicles, so that's a compliment.)

Avac,

I love all of your Cobra construction equipment, they all look Cobra and tonka at the same time, and this drilling contraption is no different.

it has elements that seem like they'd work IRL but really probably couldn't, and that' one of the things that made me love Joes back in the 80's. Great work.

I may not understand this thing you built, but it sure is cool looking.

How do you the yellow to look right? Is there a wash on it?

thanks for the comments! pnasty, the yellow is achieved after a coat of fusion grey. i buy fusion river rock grey by the case. i use it as primer for all my vech customs. they say primer isn't necessary, which is true. however, if you don't use a solid base grey, the final color will not be as brilliant and consistant w/o it, imho.

i've been tied down lately and i haven't been able the post these pics until now. the Snake Tunneler is piloted by "Burrow Viper". the head is from a tru firemen set and bored to fit the neck of the neo viper. the rest is a target neo viper with various gear. had to find some use for a neo-viper. :-|

You might as well paint a McDonald's logo on that vehicle, 'cause "I'm lovin' it."

And the driver is just great. He has real character and doesn't look like any of the numerous neo-viper variations we've seen as vehicle drivers, yet he's clearly a Cobra.

Great work.
