It's been about 4 months since I posted anything. Here are some new figures I've been working on. Most are tweaks or repaints. On the bottom I have some paint jobs for some Slayer Design heads. Hope you enjoy pictures and thanks for looking
General Hawk
There were aspects to this figure I really didn't like. Namely the cartooney face as well as his holster and his shoulder holster. I gave him a new shoulder holster from a BBI figure and also gave him a modified Vintage Bespin Luke holster form 2007. Ended up being almost a perfect replacement.
After that I gave the entire figure a repaint.
General Hawk Version 3
Although this design was so over the top I loved it when it came out. Terminator 2 had just come out and I loved having my guys suited up for some future war. I saw General Hawk as a kind of John Connor when they had the older actor playing him in T2. I wanted to update this look a bit though so I used the canceled Ripcord figure from the GiJoe movie and painted him to resemble the good General. Gave him some vintage weaponry and that was it.
Lift Ticket
Always liked this guy, ironically he always reminded me of Lee Majors and now Lee Majors is the voice of General Hawk. Anyway hated the big hips (shaved them down), hated the head sculpt (gave him Chuckles head from the box set), hated his big ass vest (trimmed that down too), lastly gave him a holster, and sculpted on some pouches on his legs to bring him closer to his original look. Pretty happy with the final result.
Recondo
Another favorite of mine. Always dug this figure and the character a lot. Wanted to bring the box set version closer in the line with the original look. Gave him a Range Viper holster, repainted his head, added rolled up sleeves to his arms, gave him some Flint arms, and an overall repaint much much happier with him now.
Ripcord
This is Ripcord, not Airborne, or Airflight, or whatever they called him. I wanted a vintage looking Ripcord so I went about working on the one that came in the box set. Gave him a BBI head, sculpted details to his torso to bring him more inline with the original figure's look and gave him some vintage weaponry. Also gave him a Star Wars mynock hunt mask, and a BBI helmet and visor. Much happier with him now. Lastly gave him new upper legs from a ROC figure to bring his look more inline with the original figure.
Spearhead
I'm starting to delve into the later year Joe characters, after the Sunbow cartoon was off the air. I always liked Spearhead but as with a lot of characters in this time frame there aren't too many stories that focused on him. One things Sunbow did an awesome job on was bringing the characters to life. That was lost when the show was canceled. However there were still some really cool guys. I wanted to update Spearhead's look a bit though and the POC figures really lend to some great fodder. He is mix of ROC Duke parts, POC Dusty, and a POC Beachhead vest. I also did some minor sculpting to his boots and
Here are some Slayer Design head sculpts that Bekker asked me to paint up. Really nice sculpting work on these that lend to a lot of detail and fun in painting them up. The head sculpts are currently up for sale over at the Slayer site.
Thanks for looking!
