I never, ever planned to make this guy. But when I got the MC Exclusive Big Lob, I thought to myself that it wasn't fair for the old-sculpt crowd to have their athletically themed grenadier and not us 25th/ROC purists.

I tried to stay as faithful to the original design as possible, but took some liberties with the color scheme.

Anyway, here he is:

What do you guys think?

Looking great. I loved Hardball. Such a simple, yet great figure. Looks to be a slight difference in colors between crotch and legs.

Looks awesome! I was going to comment that he was too beefy for Harball IMO, but then I realized that he's toting that huge-ass grenade launcher, and figured he'd have to be on 'roids to lift it, anyway :D

Love the grenades on his boots. Where's the hat from?

That's a real nice take on him. And great use of the HD head too.

looks like the character, you did good, the only thing is the color difference in legs/crotch

I never thought about it like that but it would appear he'd fit the time period.

I like him. The grenades on his legs is a decent replacement.

On paper, I wouldn't think these parts would work for Hardball, but this turned out pretty darn cool, and makes for a nice beefed up version.

Thanks, guys.

I know that he looks pretty ripped, and that was very intentional. I was actually fresh back from a ball game when I parted this guy out. I had listened to a couple of folks talking about how huge baseball players' arms and chests had gotten (something I really hadn't noticed myself) and, when I thought about what a slightly more modern take on Hrdball might look like, I figured between the state of the game today and the sheer amount of stuff he would be hauling around, bigger probably made more sense.

I'm irritated by the color variance in the crotch. That was my third attempt to match the legs but, apparently, in the natural light I used to shoot the photos, it isn't as close as I thought. I'll have to fix that.

The hat was dremeled from a Target knock-off figure. I bought two just for the heads.

I always liked the Hardball figure as a kid, and you did him more than justice. He looks awesome! Nice holster on his leg too! ;-)
