Post subject: | Black Widow (EXCAL) - WIP Tweaks 6/15: Page 3! |
A digital recording is being played back in the luxurious office of Director Oliver Queen, aboard the Battle Station Alpha (aka "Camelot") in a classified location where it now hovers, miles above the Earth below... Stark: I'm telling you Ollie, that's all I know about her. Queen: I want to believe you Tony, I really do. Her file name again? (points to a video screen, with a blurry long haired female being shown)... Stark: Natalia Romanova. I highly doubt it's her real name, but it accurately depicts her nationality, as she is confirmed born in Russia. You know her code name by now, don't you? Queen: Dammit Tony, why are you making me interrogate you? (Tony shrugs, then grins) Yes, I know it, the Black Widow. It's right there on her damned belt. Hell, it's right there on the card she left...HERE IN MY OFFICE! Stark: (Laughing) well, what better way to demonstrate one's skills in a job application than that? Would you prefer she mail her resume? Queen: So you say she worked for you at SHIELD? Stark: Look at her, the way she fills out that outfit - are you telling me she doesn't work for you? Queen: (wavering between smiling an getting even more pissed than before) So what was she originally? Russian Spy? An operative for the defunct KGB? An assassin for the Russian Mafia? What? Stark: Yes. Queen: To which one? Stark: All of those, of course. And yes, she did work for me for a time at SHIELD, but it was....shall we say, an informal arrangement? Queen: In other words, they’d have had your ass well before now had anyone known? Stark: Bingo. This isn’t the first time the Black Widow has applied for a job so…directly…you know. Queen: Oh, you mean this isn’t the first time she tracked down a Dragon Class Hover Carrier from a classified location, several miles off the ground, without being detected by active or passive radar, without an apparent hull breach being detected by ANY "LASER BLAST" source of intelligence aboard this ship, human or computerized, and picked the lock to an office, despite retina and fingerprint access only??!? Stark: Hmm. That’s a good question. The answer is probably not the first time, no. But I know definitively that she recently “applied” for a job to President Adama, in a very similar fashion. I think the Secret Service will be wanting a follow-up “interview” with her for that stunt. Queen: Bottom line. Is she fighting for the good guys? Stark: I know the Russians are about to fall completely under MEDUSA control. But trust me, if her patriotism is what you are worried about, you shouldn’t be. Her patriotism is what might make MEDUSA her everlasting target. Anyway, her past is no more shady than any of the rest of us. It’s just painted in different shades of grey. She’s an asset. We could use her. Queen: How do I contact her for a real job “interview”? Stark: I suspect she’ll call you. She’s been listening all along. You don’t think that business card you are holding is only a card do you?” |

Thanks guys. I've been wanting a proper Black Widow for awhile, and the MU version fell well short of my expectations. I am looking forward to the IM2 version, but if the hips are like the other movie figs, I'd have to change something there anyway, so I figured I'm make this now and use that one for fodder later. DJ - the parts list: MU Black Widow torso and arms, and waist, +BW belt and gauntlets. I modified the suit to be open by using thread for the zipper and painted the chest and face the same color. The upper legs are from Helix, and the lower legs are from RA Scarlett. I made the holster out of electrical tape. The head is Padme (forget which version) with Comic Pack Cover Girl hair, courtesy of Chief. Oh, and DJ, the vibe I get from her is classic Anne Margaret. The only thing I'm not 100% happy with is that I left the MU arms alone, so there is no swivel at the elbow. So you'll be seeing a lot of smaller weapons with her that are fired one-handed. |

I just bought the MU version and was thinking about fixing her up to match the Avengers Unlimted Video look. I really like what you have done I may have to barrow some of those ideas. Over all Bad Ass Sexy kick your butt Chick. Well done. |

she's great, nice work as usual. The paints are nice and I like the red you used fro her hair.So string to make the open top look, I'll have to remember that.Good read as well, you could see that going on in a movie, which your universe would be a sweet movie BTW... On her chest she looks like she's got nipples???Does she or is it just paint clumps |

Let me begin with the character description as presented by your story, (as always, I enjoyed your writing before viewing the figs). I especially like the intrigue that you very subtly spark with that "everlasting goal" comment. Ah huh... Indeed, saucy vixen, she. By the way, I love the continuity of your verse, Dennis. Gorgeous custom and well done. PS: I feel you on those non-swiveling, 1982 Grand Slam style arms, too. PPS: This may not fare too well, but I totally see Kirstie Alley: |

Tim, yes nipples. lol. Those tight cat suits don't leave much room for underwear it seems... At least in my mind, if nowhere else. James, you know what? 25 years ago that comparison would have been highly flattering. As long as you are limiting the comparison to that time frame, I can dig it! |

I like the head. I see Anne Margaret too. The unzipped cat suit came out great. I'll have to remember that thread trick. I think I would have switched out her arms for movie Baroness just to have the elbow swivel. |

Ooooooooooooooo. She reminds me of a very young Meg Foster, whom I have had a perpetual crush on since the channel 13 representation of The Scarlet Letter. She's definitely someone I'd risk some Samovar tea time and Beluga with. |

Cap wrote: She reminds me of a very young Meg Foster Now that you say that, I see it too. It's the stare-into-them-forever eyes. I have to admit that Kirstie Alley was way hot back in the day. Every time I watched Star Trek II I wanted to nibble on those ears... |

I think I would have switched out her arms for movie Baroness just to have the elbow swivel. Not necessarily out of the question yet. Don't forget I ALWAYS change something after my first critiques post. lol. I absolutely hate splitting open that Ms. Marvel/BW base body though. so I may cheat a little bit and make a fused swap at the bicep. Hell, may just do that tonight. I won't do so with every Ms. Marvel figure I make, but I like this character and figure enough to do that. It was bugging me already, if you couldn't tell. Meg Foster? Man you had me stumped on that one. Just remember I'm still only a 'pup' at 37 though... I googled her though, and she looked to be a hottie in the day. Where do I know her from best? Was she in the Flash Gordon movie? She looks familiar for sure, but I didn't see any obvious thing I recognized her from. Be warned though - if you fondly remember how she looked young, don't pull up any recent pics, given that she's now well past cougar stage. DJ - I, well, umm...I'm leaving that one alone. |
