Well, I've been watching The Greatest American Hero on DVD and got the bug to build a Billy Maxwell custom. Just figured I'd mod a Hannibal figure (since his shoulder rig reminded me of Bill the first time I saw it.)

Still not happy with Bill's color scheme - I need to find a different color for the shirt, but for now this is what I've got.

Oh - and I had to make a Ralph custom to go along with Bill - otherwise it wouldn't work. ;)

Used the modded Quaid head from my Hawk custom - I REALLY wanted to use a Bruce Campbell head instead, since he'd be perfect if they did a remake, but Ash's hair is too long, so I went with the next best thing.

Ralph, as I said, was an afterthought. I took a discarded Green Lantern custom and re-purposed it by putting Face's head (the only guy with a suitable 'Fro) on and slapping a crapload of red paint on him. Originally I thought I'd use an MU Torch or Black Spidey as a base, but I didn't want him to be ripped - he just needs to be a guy in a suit. He's too muscular as it is - I didn't want him having any additional definition. Eyes need some work too -- the sculpts on these A-team figs suck balls - Face and Murdock both are a problem when re-painting eyes.

They both still need some work - especially Bill, but I've got them to the "good enough for now" stage at least.

Cheers!

Awesome! Now if you excuse me, the theme song for that show will be stuck in my head for days if I dont hit youtube right now and watch the opening.

Seriously, Both are great representations of the actors I think. Great work as always!

Looks like you've got some very minor coverage issues on Ralph bug, otherwise, these kick nards.

I'm totally willing to accept some superheroic definition on Ralph only because I have to imagine that, if such a character actually existed, the unevitible action figure would be unrealistically ripped.

Great work on these.

Looking real good. So are you re-defining the character, or would you go with a Robert Culp looking head if you found one? (heads off to the 'head bin' if so).

I like the choice for Ralph also (especially since I have that same base body without yet having an idea on what to use it for. Here's a thought though. For 'regular guy in super suit' look, would the ROC Breaker torso work at all? It's sufficiently skinny at least.

Thanks guys --

Dennis - I would totally use a Bob Culp head if I could find one. Then I could put the Quaid head back on Hawk ;) . As for the Breaker torso - it'd end up making him TOO small, IMO - skinny is fine, but I don't want him much shorter than he is - he's a dwarf next to other superheroes and he's shorter than Bill, so that's where I want him. Also, I wanted to make use of the discarded GL custom anyway, so there wasn't any part-hunting for Ralph at all. Trying to optimize my existing parts for now until I find a job. :P

I always remember Maxwell wearing either a shirt and tie or a denim colored shirt. But then I haven't seen the show in years so my memory could be failing me. Nice work on both though.

These look great. I think that the head on Ralph works very well. Great job on both customs. I used to enjoy watching the Greatest American Hero when I was a child.
