I'm a child of the 70's when the best action figures were made ;-) . I'm slowly trying to recreate modern versions of the figures I had back then.

Last year I made my EODs version of the adventure Team and I thought they turned out pretty well.

This figure is based on the Hasbro's attempt at a MEGO style figure. Super Joe and his team fought light up aliens in space. It was kinda lame but I liked them anyway.

I'm not trying to do exact copies of those old figures but instead do my own versions as I did with the Adventure Team.

Agreed. I didn't quite get it from your initial pics, but when I saw the stripped down version, I thought it was great. Nice work.

While I am unfamiliar with the character, this does not take away from the fact that the figure is a great looking custom. The base figure without the armor and helmet looks wonderful.

Thanks
I wasn't trying too hard to recreate the back pack thing he wore cause it was kinda dumb. The guys in space and all his gear does is light up.
I figured being in space it might need to do a few more things. So I added a rail gun and satellite feed antenna, helmet and gave him a gun belt.
He is also blind in his right from battling the light creatures and far older than his original toy. He looks so damn happy in the original.

here is a pic of the original.

I like the being blind in one eye part. That adds some character.

chalk me up in the 'didn't know the original' group, so I am greatful you posted the reference pic. Seeing that comparison convinces me it's a big win. I liked it either way, but the extent of the homage paid with the update enhances it.

I like the head choice, and that he has a grizzled vet look to him. Your work on the backpack/space gear is top notch, but I'm with the others who like the figure more without it, because it shows off your work more. My dislike of the pack has more to do with his original design - not with your work on it.

Would love to see a parts list (is that an MU figure base?) and to hear how you did the stripes so cleanly.

Good job. I really like the gear less version.

You all crack me up. I put all that work into the gear and you like the parts swap figure better.
Sigh.........

As for the stripes. I had a good hand day ( Can't feel a damn thing today) The stripes and the symbol only took a couple of tries and cleanup painting.
Took about and hour each.

Great stuff!
Is the main section of the backpack from one of the new Iron Man sets?
