so im new to the pages, gonna work on gettin some pics up soon, but i seen something the other day that got me thinkin and i wanted some feedback from some wonderful artist so where do i turn, where else? so i seen this water table thing from playskool n thought well that would make a great idea for a dio or playset for the kids! basicly what im gonna do is build a coffie table frame maybe 3ft by 3ft by 2 or 3 high with the table top sunk in maybe 6 to 8 inches, then using pmd roofing rubber that i happen to have exra sitting round, water proofing the sunkin areas n building a dio or playset up on what none water areas i leave open. maybe im thinkin a swamp scene like a dreadknocks cabin or something along that line. well just lookin for a sounding board, all ideas, comments and critasisems welcome. excuse my horrid spellin sorry lol. |

Sounds like a great idea, especially that it is for the kids too. If you make it a swamp, definitely use the fishtank greens or even some of the plastic greens from the craft section at some stored. Since you are thinking of using real water in it, I would make sure it is drained every night, because unless you are going to have it filtered, standing water is a disaster area with mosquitoes, and other nasty bacteria. |

Awsome thank you. Thats just the real input im looking for with any post i make. I know some ppl dont want REAL criticisms, but I wouldn't post if i wasn't looking for reality checks, and logistics, since I'm new to the art side of things. Did i post this question in the right forum? Just for future ref. , thnx |

I think this could be fantastic. I have no helpful information though . It could be wicked to see a underwater dio with a fish tank and have the top of the tank set up as a beach dio. Whatever you do, I really like where this is heading. |

Cap makes an excellent point - if you're going to keep it indoors, I might try to find some alternative to real water unless you want to do the upkeep on it. I've made a few large-scale dios/playsets, since I had a bunch of room in my basement -- and I do have an idea for a water set-up, but I'm just gonna do it as a landscaping project in the backyard. Basically a Koi pond, but without the Koi. I'm debating real or fake plant life in the pond itself -- but it'll be filtered, preferably with some manner of cascading waterfall and I'll plant some small evergreen shrubs around it (to look like giant-ass trees.) So not only can I use it for water/swamp battles in the Spring/Summer, but come Winter, it becomes a frozen lake and my Joes/Halo figs can enact Arctic campaigns on it. But for your idea, since you're water-proofing the sunken parts, maybe a drain plug hooked up to a hose would work well - that way you & the kids could play all day, then just empty it out at night - no muss, no fuss. Plus, you could use food coloring to change it up each time - green for the swamp, etc. Sounds like a fun project - can't wait to see some WIP shots. |

Between the ages of 16 and 18 i helped my dad build about 4 or 5 coi ponds, 2 with falls and with real plants your fliters will clog once a week with a 5w by 10L by 3 or 4 deep, unless you get something made to handle large amounts like a pool filter.( witch Dad did not do, lol) But thanks for the ideas, i'm deffenitly going to use the drain idea. Sounds easy enough to save me from having to dump it everytime, and way cheaper then a pump! |
