I've been looking for some decent buildings in scale with my Gundams to use for some dioramas. I've seen some model railroad pieces but they were pretty expensive. So I decided to start making my own. I drew up the design in CAD and can be sized to any scale needed, and is only limited to the paper size the printer supports. I added some color and glued the sheets onto card stock. It was a bit tough to get the pieces to glue together properly but, in time, I could make an entire city for my figs to battle in. |

That works. I did basically the same for my Dio story. |

Yet another win for cardboard (cardstock, cardboard, same difference) Nice job. Only a couple of crits: - the edges of the buildings show a bit of the white, either from your printout or the cardstock. Maybe some touch-up with paint (either color -match or just in black) could help. - Adding more 3-d effects (doors, overhangs, etc) will add a lot to the realism of your model |

Just an idea...but you could really add to these using different texture and finish contact paper. It'd take a lot of cutting or fine line work but if you printed the building out on sticker paper, cut out all the "glass" windows and doors, and then put it over top of a reflective Contact paper it'd give just a bit more dimension to the buildings. |

Cool beans on the city! I have an idea that might help you with corners, if you don't mind the heads up. Avery, the label and sticker company makes Full Sheet Labels(Stickers) that are essentially an injet paper page that is one big label. If you build the building first in cardboard or foamboard, then print out your detailed sheets, you can just apply the paper full sheet labels to your prebuilt works so that corners are assured clean. Just an idea my friend. Works for smaller details as well. When I needed to do custom signage or insignia like in Rob's TEF force, I did a full sheet of his TEF insignia in various sizes so that I just had to cut them out and affix to the doors, walls, etc. Since you are using a full page of graphics, this might be another way to do it. Again, very nice city dry run! |

Don't mind at all Cap, since it "is" called the Critiques forum . I have used the Avery sheets before but these designs are printed out on 11x17 size sheets and I don't think Avery makes them in this size (guess I could double them up). I have already come up with some ideas as to eliminate some issues that came up with the prototype including the paper I use and how I construct the piece. In the mean time, I put the buildings on hold for the moment till I get the kinks worked for this other project I am working on. |

But his walls looks a little off. I made this at work during lunch today: Edit: Check here for the rest of this project. |
