I've been pressed for time and energy the last few months and haven't had time to get into some of the more involved projects I have in mind, but this batch of figures is my way of easing back into the swing of things. Airtight - Probably the trickiest of the lot. I was all thrilled with myself when I realized the Marvel AIM Trooper would make a great base for an easy Airtight. But even though I didn't have to paint any yellow, this one was still kind of pain. I went through some tricky neck ball modification, three different shades of green in multiple coats and a glue mishap. Dr. Frost - This guy is based on the Bronze Bomber villain Cool Breeze. Original here - http://www.yojoe.com/archive/actfig/bb8 ... breeze.jpg He was originally a germ warfare expert, but I've turned him into a cryo-weapons researcher who experiments on his brother. Chiller - based on the Bronze Bomber villain Chilly Pop. Original here - http://www.flickr.com/photos/57264918@N00/3919602803 According to the original file cards, he was an arms dealer and the twin brother of Cool Breeze. My take is that he was a Snow Serpent, convinced by his brother to undergo bizarre experiments in order to craft soldiers who are resistant to the cold. The procedure went awry and turned him into a being who can not only withstand cold, but emit blasts of ice and snow. Probably a bit too fantastic for some, but I've always liked the more outlandish elements of GI Joe. Krunch - Urban Infantry - A real simple one, based on the Bomber of the same name from the '97set. I decided to make him because Snake Eye's pants looked purple in certain lights. Original here - http://www.yojoe.com/archive/actfig/bombers/2bb11.jpg Cheetah - Jungle Vehicle Ops - An excuse to make quick use of a spare DVD Stalker body. Stalker was renamed Cheetah in Argentina. Sure Shot - Urban Infantry - Again mainly inspired by a desire to quickly use the body. Sure Shot is a loose remake of Tiro Certo, who was a Brazilain repaint of Bulletproof. |

Thanks, guys. Yep, Chiller is a repainted POC Destro with a Star Wars head. |

These are all great. The AIM Trooper is just a brilliant base for AT. |

Good mix of customs here and some great work. The pic of Airtight with his helmet up is what sells it for me. Great choice of parts. The head also vaguely reminds me the Action Force pilot head that Palitoy used. Cool Breeze- outstanding. Probably your best work here. Great update on a (realtively) obscure character. (and PS is it just me or does anyone else think the original figure looks like the butler from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air?) Chiller- great figure. I agree its abit too outlandish a concept for me but I appreciate the artistry involved here Krunch- nice use of parts, is it an LBC or have u modded anything? Cheetah. Not liking the head. Too cartoony and doesnt seem to fit the vibe/character of the rest IMO and lastly Sureshot. Nice solid custom. |

Thanks, again. bigtattoo wrote: Krunch- nice use of parts, is it an LBC or have u modded anything? Cheetah. Not liking the head. Too cartoony and doesnt seem to fit the vibe/character of the rest IMO Krunch is just a head swap with repainted details. I gave him a mustache and different hair color, two purple pockets, and painted the armor on the chest, shoulders, knees, elbows and back. I get the complaint about Cheetah being cartoony. At first, I used a more clean cut head with a removable beret, but I found myself wishing I could make him look a bit wilder, and I imagined pretty much this exact hairstyle. Then I saw the Dragonball figure and couldn't pass it up. |
