I make a lot of Snake Eyes customs. Some are to try out different parts combinations, some are to sell so I can buy more fodder (or for gas money) But ever since the 25th line came out my main goal was to make a modern Snake Eyes that was a perfect representation of the 1985 Snake Eyes version 2, and like the card art, has no lip prints! I think I finally perfected him. The head is the mod I made for Hunter Artworks which is the 1985 visor on a lipless ROC Ninja Commando head. I used green stuff to fill the lines in the mask to make it look like fabric instead of molded rubber. I took a tip from Daremo and fixed up the original 1985 backpack The holster is one I sculpted for Hunter Artworks. It’s based on the look of the 1985 Snake Eyes holster. In the process of building this, I wanted a 1985 Snake Eyes to compare him to, so I finally fixed one up to keep. Comparison Shot: (Left to right) 1985 Snake Eyes, my custom, 2009 5 pack Snake Eyes |

Very good likeness. The attention to detail is spot on. I would buy that in a heartbeat. |

You know, it's been really cool to watch you take this character through numerous iterations, always inching it closer to where you wanted it to be. And the end result (yeah, because there's no chance you'll tweak this again, right ) is quite impressive. |

I did a separate version that's a "my verse" take on Snake eyes version 2 that I will eventually post, but as far as trying to get a modern version as close to the '85 as possible, I don't think I can get any closer. On one hand it feels good. It's like closure. On the other hand, since completing him I feel a lack in customizing motivation. I've got plenty of ideas and WIPs in my to do list, most of which aren't Snake Eyes, but now there's an underlying feeling of having achieved my ultimate goal, so why continue? But who knows, maybe I'll finally get around to making that Raptor custom. |

I get this same feeling every time I finish a Knighthawk custom... my goal had always been to make the perfect figure of me as a Joe/action hero. This cycle of finding new/better parts and learning new/better techniques though, has me thinking I can make a better one every twn months or so, which is why you see so many of that character from me. And I find every time I start a new KH, my creativity and inspiration for all my other figures also jumps up tremendously. So I expect you to come back at some point to SE - maybe not this version, but some other versions of old favorites that you'll let inspire you. Also, great, great job in making a near exact likeness in the transformation from one scale to the next. bravo. |

I've actually got 2 other Snake Eyes customs ready that I haven't posted yet, 3 or 4 WIPs, and an update to my modern VvV SE. (And of course 2 more Han Solo customs. Who couldn't see that coming?) But I do look forward to completing Raptor, Metal Head, my massive Croc Master project, Resolute Tunnel Rat, a Twi'lek hottie, and a custom of my wife. It's just weird to have that slight feeling of "I'm done with this. Time to move on." in the back of my head. |

I finally got a Hall of Heroes Snake Eyes so I did a comparison shot of him, my custom, and the 2009 5-pack version: |

Metallic for the visor is smart. Like it. |

past nastification wrote: Metallic for the visor is smart. Like it. Yeah, that just seemed to make sense to me. I used Folk Art "Gun Metal" for the visor. That's the only cheap acrylic I still use. Everything else is either Model Masters or Pollyscale. Of course I thinned the Folk Art paint with Testors acryl thinner, which seems to have added to the paint's durability.
