Hi, I was just passing through and lurking when I noticed the topic of your group challenge and my mind swirled, GI Joe Next Gen? Genius!

Small problem though, I'm not a customizer and I just started buying GI Joes again. I didn't want to be a douche and intrude on the main thread and since it really had nothing to do with customization, I didn't want to post in anywhere else but a nice safe, nonthreatening fan fic post. This isn't really a fan fic, just a full on fan outline.

I now submit my purely theory based GI Joe Next Gen team for your approval/ridicule. Please take the time to mention how annoying my intrusion is.

GI Joe: Re-Up

It's been ten years since the final battle and life has moved on for the survivors.

Cobra Commander and Duke are both gone forever, locked in conflict as they fell from the top of the Statue of Liberty, and with their death came the end of GI Joe. Everyone retired, everyone moved on, some even lost their lives.

But nothing, not even retirement, lasts forever...

A mysterious new leader has taken control of Cobra and he's returned the organization to it's mighty roots. Taking control of an island in the south pacific, Cobra has returned to threaten the world!

Cobra: The Enemy!
King Snake: An armored, monstrous new leader who rules the new Cobra with an iron fist. No one knows that beneath King Snake's helmet is the scarred and twisted mind of Tomax, Cobra Commander's former lackey. After the death of his brother and his own horrible maiming, Tomax quietly took control of Cobra's reigns and forged a new identity to lead his army to ultimate victory.

Professor Steele: To repair his ruined body, Tomax turned to an old associate named Steele, a mad genius who built Cobra's new master a suit of impenetrable armor. As the replacement for the deceased Dr. Mindbender, Steele uses his scientific knowledge as a deadly weapon.

Dreadfang- One of Cobra Commander's greatest flaws was his inability to recognize and reward loyalty. While he was a brilliant strategist, the late Commander surrounded himself with traitorous fools and let his few loyal underlings go unnoticed. That is a flaw King Snake does not share! Under the first Cobra leadership, Dreadfang was a mere Crimson Guardsman. A nameless and faceless dredge who was passed over for promotion despite being their most effective commando. In the new Cobra he is the ruthless replacement for Major Bludd and King Snake's most psychotically loyal assassin.

Destro and the Baroness- The former co-leaders of Cobra and the new leaders of the Iron Legion, a terrorist for hire organization, the husband and wife team have little interest in serving a new Cobra but have given their support to King Snake to further their own goals.

Road Pig- No more Zartan but the Dreadnoks live on. Don Deluca was a running joke in the Dreadnoks, his split personalities and mental deficiencies made him nothing but a big, dumb wrecking machine. But Professor Steele's re-education machines have given him a mind as sharp as the Dreadnoks founder and turned a big, dumb machine into a walking nightmare.

The Crimson Twins- Destro's offspring, Charles and Anya McCullen, have joined Cobra at their father's behest and act as his eyes and ears within the organization. Together they lead the Crimson Guard into battle and use their family fortune to further Cobra's goals. Charles has a bizarre fixation towards his twin sister Anya and there are rumors of an...unhealthy relationship between them.

The Red Master- Once known as Storm Shadow, the leader of Cobra's Red Ninjas is a reluctant member of the new Cobra. After killing his battle brother Snake Eyes in single combat, Storm Shadow threw down his swords and swore to never kill again. He settled down, raised a family, and opened a dojo in rural Japan. But his past has caught up with him, King Snake has threatened to murder his daughter if he does not train a new generation of Red Ninjas and Ninja Vipers. Now, he prays for death to release him from King Snake's servitude.

Serpent Troopers- Along with the Vipers and Crimson Guard, King Snake has brought a new class of elite Cobra soldier to the battlefield. Serpent Troopers are a class of cloned soldiers created by Professor Steele from the rotting corpse of Serpentor, each as cunning and dangerous as their genetic father. But without these troopers are missing Serpentor's free will and regard King Snake as a god.

Nemesis- Styled after the mighty Nemesis Immortal/Enforcer that served Serpentor, Professor Steele's genetic manipulations have created Nemesis, a half snake/half man with batlike wings and a thirst for human blood. A definite improvement on the previous beasts.

The Viper- Another triumph for Steele, the Viper is a mindless cyborg soldier built from the resurrected corpse of Cobra Commander with no knowledge of his previous life. He spends his days performing menial labor for King Snake and trying to remember what he once was.

As the threat of Cobra once again shakes the world, the US government and the United Nations have reformed GI Joe under a familiar leader:

GI JOE
Director O'Hara- Scarlett's career after GI Joe had now where to go but up. Special assignments, promotion after promotion, even a commendation from the President himself turned Scarlett into a national hero. But nothing felt right after the end of GI Joe and Agent O'Hara always knew she would once again find herself fighting Cobra and saving the world, she just didn't imagine she'd be the one in charge this time. After General Hawk's retirement, GI Joe became a civilian operation and ran more like a law enforcement agency then a military operation. With Cobra's return, President Flagg knew he needed someone with military experience and enough political willpower to dodge a nasty senate hearing. O'Hara was the natural choice.

Kamakura- After Snake Eye's death, Scarlett knew that only one man could ever fill her dead lover's shoes: Sean Collins, the last true student of the Arashikage Clan. Time has only increased Sean's skill and it's clear that he truly has become his dead master's equal. The man they call Kamakura has rejoined the Joe team for one purpose. He's going to find the man named Storm Shadow and bring him to justice.

Agent 1- Michael Faireborn didn't follow in his parent's footsteps. He never joined the military like Flint or worked in counter intelligence like Lady Jaye. Instead he became an FBI agent and used his keen mind to solve much more mundane problems like serial murders and bank robberies. But after Cobra's return, Scarlett needed all the help she could get and Micheal knew he couldn't stand on the sidelines while an old family friend struggled against a deadly enemy. When GI Joe returned, Faireborn was the very first volunteer and thus, it's very first agent.

Mercer- Nobody understands how evil Cobra can be more than Mercer, because no one else has seen what Mercer has seen. He always knew Cobra would be back, always felt that his work wasn't over. He spent a few years kicking around Europe, picking fights in dive bars and trying to keep in shape. Waiting for the day when the phone would ring and the fight would start again. That day came when Director O'Hara needed a new training officer to take over Beachhead's vacant spot. Now an entire generation of Joes can learn from the former Viper's inside knowledge.

Big D- Born in the roughest part of Detroit, Demetrius Jackson spent most of his life making all the wrong choices. Gangs, drugs, and bad behavior nearly took away his chance to be part of something good. Then one day, Demetrius tried to rob a small restaurant called the Roadblock Diner just outside of town and received the most merciless beating of his life from a cook named Marvin F. Hinton. The old man gave the boy a few life lessons and inspired him to join the military and learn the subtle art of fine cuisine. When Scarlett went looking for a heavy weapons specialist, she got a letter from Roadblock recommending Demetrius for the job.

Ace- Nobody can fly a plane like Rita Fillmore can, NOBODY. She was born inside a cockpit at ten thousand feet and lived on her father's airbase for most of her life. The minute she turned sixteen, Rita climbed into the driver's seat of a small cessna and never looked back. After a long career as the Air Force's most talented pilot, LT. Rita "Ace" Fillmore has joined the hunt for Cobra.

Thunder Hammer- Kurt Ferber is a soldier's soldier. Five years of service in the German military and four more as a member of the infamous GSG 9, Kurt has earned a reputation as one of the world's greatest demolitions experts. In fact when the German government discovered GI Joe wanted to recruit Kurt, they tried to block his transfer. But they relented after GI Joe promised to fund an entire team of explosive experts just to replace Kurt's formidable skills.

Jester- When GI Joe disbanded, Mainframe and Zarana didn't get a happy ending. The Drednoks hunted the star crossed lovers down and murdered them in cold blood while their son Alex watched. Now Alex Parker wants revenge on the biker gang that stole his family from him and he knows that joining the new GI Joe is the only way to get the job done. Using his natural talent for disguise, Jester can impersonate anyone and infiltrate any organization.

Firefly- Sentenced to 535 years in Federal Prison, the man once called "The Faceless Master" knows how to strike a deal. In exchange for his freedom and 44 million dollars in cash, he has agreed to help the Joes defeat the new Cobra with first hand knowledge of the enemy.

Sawbones- Former combat surgeon, Major Linda Pierce spent most of her career keeping her fellow Marines from falling apart during the second Gulf War. She joined the Joe team at the insistence of her oldest friend, Dust Devil, and tries to hold her tongue when GI Joe operatives limp into her tent half dead and bleeding.

Sickhouse- Former leader of the Road Devils Biker Gang, Sickhouse was sent to prison for a crime he didn't commit when a rival gang called the Dreadnoks killed his friends and framed him for murder. Out of jail thanks to Director O'Hara, Johnny "Sickhouse" Murphy helps the Joes keep track of Cobra's street level operations and drug runners.

Ladybug- Corporal Loretta Bierman took apart her first engine when she was ten years old, then learned to put it back together when she was 17. As GI Joe's mechanic and driver, she keeps the team moving through any terrain imaginable.

Well thought out and written. I definitely be interested in reading a fan-fic based on it should you go that direction.
