Hasbro did it again- a great new figure with a poor head choice. They used the Flash head, which is only marginally better than using the Beach Head one. But it's still a masked head.

I used a Duke head. The hair is painted brown and the mustache/sideburns are added. I also added scars because the head had some production flaws along the jaw. Snake-Eyes probably wouldn't be the only Joe with some damage to his face, and it helps get around the Duke look.

The new head looks pretty good, nice job.

I always hated that Duke head, but you really did something nice with it. I love the idea of using a head with mold flaws as a character with scars (in fact, I love it so much that I've done it a couple times myself!), and the added scarring works really well here. Plus, with his mustache and flat-top, he really looks like a guy who would be in the military, and it definitely reminds me of the original Skydive (which is a good thing, because I always loved that figure). The new head improves the figure immensely; nice work!

Yes, this new head goes a long way towards making him look more like who he's supposed to be. I think the hair could be darker, but that's a minor thing.

good job, I do like the head with the scars. Is the rest of the figure painted or factory stock?

Good choice...I think you could add a bit of salt n pepper in his hair...maybe give him "mr fantastic" grey side burn things. SkyDive had grey hair and always came across to me as an older member of the team. Your scars add to that idea that he's been around, and i think a touch of grey would only improve the look.

Thanks, everyone.

Everything but the Duke-as-Skydive head is straight out of the packaging.

I wasn't sure if the scars would sell with everyone or not; Skydive doesn't have much of a back story or massive fan following. That might be what makes it easier to maul the character's face and have it accepted so well.

As far as adding grey- that would look good. Sadly, to make the scars look right I had to paint them first (into and under the hairline) and then paint the hair on top of it. Whenever I make hair two toned I paint the hair, then go back over the flesh edges. That probably makes no sense at all.

Looks really good, did you sculpt the moustache?

I didn't sculpt it, but I did build it up over several layers to raise it slightly.
