First up today is a figure that has gone through three different WIP eras - he started as a head from JFAK's headshrinker days (if you can remember back that far, lol) and was parted out as ARAH. Then i had an inspiration to make him out of new sculpt parts (after inheriting all Hypno's fodder) and then i lost the head for a few years. I recently found it, and went on a hunt to make the figure 25th/ROC, based on a pair of wrestling arms i got from a member here. Anyway, too much description! Without further ado, Snake Plisskin. Attachment: Attachment: Attachment: Head: JFAK Cast Snake Plisskin Torso: ROC PIT Gen Hawk Arms: Wrestling figure Body: ROC PIT Commando? For my second entry today, we travel all the way back to NJC #17, Wolverine! Keep in mind that No Joe Challenge was made WAY before there was a Marvel Universe or Wolverine Origins line. There was an SHS Wolverine figure available, but no 'unmasked' verson, which is what i set out to do, all those many years ago... Attachment: Attachment: Attachment: Attachment: Head: SHS Beast (thanks AV) Torso/Arms: Major Barrage Waist: ? Legs: FS Tunnel Rat (cut down) (note: i feel there's something 'off' about this Logan figure, other than the forearms being too long ... maybe the face is too 'clean'?) thoughts? |

Awesome job on Snake. Like you, I've had that JFAK head for a long time, and I'm on like my 4th different WIP body to use it on. My only critique, and it's a limited one, is that the torso might be a touch undersized for the head. I can say that with experience, as it's a problem I encountered in one of my own WIP iterations. Wolvie is cool, especially in the context of when and how you made him. He looks like a mean sob to be sure. (actually, he frightens me a bit) but in a good way. |

Snake Plissken is perfect. That is the best version of that character I've ever seen and I've seen a lot of him. The painting on that head is superb. Considering the time frame for when this came out he's excellent. SHS made a maskless bezerker Wolvie as a chase variant but good luck tracking that done now, much less back then. I don't know what it is but the eyebrows and eyes are giving off a muppet vibe. I don't know what I would do differently to fix that since the facial expression is exactly what he looks like. |

That torso on Snake is from either ROC Breaker or one of the exclusive training fatigues Duke or Ripcord. If you didn't paint it then its from Breaker. |

thanks, folks! maybe wolvie's eyebrows are a little bushy ... and i wonder if i can't get a lower eyelid in without screwing the whole thing up ... also, i noticed today that his lips are a little ... blacker than i remember from last night -- MS, if that's not Pit Hawk's torso, blame Darko -- i bought it from him ... |

Ha! - I've got a near-identical Plissken custom (except mine uses the ROC t-shirt Hawk body - because Russell was never that ripped until he made Soldier) -- very cool Nice job on Logan - I had considered using a Beast head for "Berserker-mode" Logan, but at the time I couldn't paint eyes worth a crap. I agree something looks off - maybe some added lines or a dark-flesh wash just to bring out the lines in his forehead and around his mouth to better show the rage? Also, I don't necessarily think Wolvie's eyes are too bushy, but they're too well groomed for as thick as they are. Maybe "bush" them out even more to look more animalistic? Cool stuffs! |

the upper torso is from a different figure than the lower torso/waist - but, i agree with drbindy -- the torso is wimpy for the head & chest, even though the design is spot on for the character |
