Sand pirates roam across all of the desert "seas" of Tattooine, loosely organized and brutally violent. Sand pirates are usually almost completely covered from head to toe to keep the abrasive sand out and to conceal their identities as they are among the most feared criminals on the planet. Sand pirates utilize any and all forms of weapons from antiquated slugthrowers to forcepikes and operate all manner of jury-rigged and scavenged vehicles.

These particular twin sand pirates, part of the elite "Black Guard", serve as personal bodyguards to the self proclaimed ''king" of the largest clan of sand pirates roaming the Dune Sea. They defend their king with wickedly sharp double-ended vibroblades and blaster pistols as well as pneumatic poisoned spike launchers in their gauntlets (they carry additional ammo in their armors' backplates. They will defend their king to the death.

I like them except for the color scheme. On a desert planet when you're covered head to toe you're going to sweat. So light absorbing black material would make for a very very hot wardrobe. That's why everything on Tatooine was so bland and beige, to keep cool. I'm sure this is something you've thought about but I didn't read anything in the story about integrated cooling units in the armor and mask, which is the kind of detail you don't normally leave out. So I have to ask, what's the story on the black color scheme?

I started introducing an "elite" group of sand pirates awhile back with my Sand Pirate Heavy Weapons Trooper called the "Black Guard". The Black Guard are in service of the "king" mentioned in these figures' bio, but I neglected to mention the Black Guard status for these figures. I will be modifying the bio to reflect this, thanks for the head's-up :)

See? I knew there was a reason for the black clothing. It makes more sense to me now.

Ooh I like these. Nice figs and great concept.

The only thing that bothers me a little is the facemasks remind of the stereotypical "Greys"

Funnily enough, black is the best colour to wear in heat. White/light colours absorb sunlight, dark/black colours radiate sunlight/heat and actually aid in cooling.

The Bedouin are well known for wearing black robes as it keeps them cooler.

It also accounts for why people that live in hotter climates generally have darker skin.
