Know, O prince, that between the years when the oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities, and the years of the rise of the Sons of Aryas, there was an Age undreamed of, when shining kingdoms lay spread across the world like blue mantles beneath the stars - Nemedia, Ophir, Brythunia, Hyperborea, Zamora with its dark-haired women and towers of spider-haunted mystery, Zingara with its chivalry, Koth that bordered on the pastoral lands of Shem, Stygia with its shadow-guarded tombs, Hyrkania whose riders wore steel and silk and gold. But the proudest kingdom of the world was Aquilonia, reigning supreme in the dreaming west.

Hither came Conan the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandalled feet.

And also destined to drink many tankards of foaming ale and crush the heaving bosoms of lusty wenches to his mighty chest!

I have been a Conan fan since my father bought me issue 59 of Savage Sword of Conan: The City of Skulls. Then it was the books, then the movie, then more books. Over 30 years later, I am still not tired of re-reading the stories.

I blame Cap for me making this  . His fantasy work gave me the inspiration. Thanks, man! This is now the third Conan I have made, and the best, IMHO. I wanted a cross between the Frank Frazetta/Boris Vallejo paintings and the interior artwork from Savage Sword of Conan magazine.

I modified the head with green stuff. I wanted a more flexible result so I could move the head without breaking. The Warpath hands are set quite wide, so I wound some thin leather thong around the handles of the sword and axe to help them fit. I used a piece of face cloth as it looks reasonably like fur. I found the belt while looking for other parts. It was a no-brainer for this custom as soon as I saw it.

I totally dig this custom. The skin color is perfect. No critiques.

Heh, nice. work. Love the Playmobil tankard in the last photo (though it could use some dry-brushing to make it fit in better). :-)

I dig the fleshtones (couple spots look to have flaked off, but those MUU joints can be tough like that). My favorite part is the mods to the head and hair though. Nice parts choices indeed.

CROM!

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. My favorite version of him, with the bangs and the blue eyes!

I'll have to send you some of my babe-age to have him heft over his shoulder. Conan deserves the hottest tavern wenches ; )

I scored the collected Savage Sword of Conan from Borders before we lost ours. I am LOVING these vintage pages with the serious inkwork and images. Inspiration on tap.

Awesomely done Kambei!

I just ordered SSoC Volume 5 from Amazon. Playing catch up on them.

I am working on another figure at the moment, then i will be working on a tavern wench. There is a good one to work from in volume 3.

That is really cool. Straight out of the comics. The necklace and head especially.

Head (both): Lanard ORCAS (cast)

Hands: Star wars comic pack Wedge Antilles
Feet: KotCS Ugha Warrior
Serpent Crown: cheap knock-off figure (cast)
Serpent staff: Upper: JvsC Cobra Commader, Lower: Ep2 Rep Been
Conan needs an arch-nemesis, right? Who better than the Stygian Wizard Thoth Amon who appeared in the original Howard stories and was expanded by Sprague de Camp and Carter.

This is my own interpretation of him, partly based on the descriptions in the books, partly on Egyptian priests, partly my own imagination.
When I started making him, I debated whether or not to leave him bare headed, but then I remebered a headpiece I got in a set of cheap figures and accessories from a Pound shop about six or seven years ago. I am a compulsive hoarder of accessories, so it took a little while to dig it out. I made a mold, cast it and fixed it onto one of the heads I had already done for him.
Then I started thinking about colours. Emerald and silver suddenly came to mind. Thoth Amon was head of the Serpent Cult in Stygia, and those are the house colours for Slytherin in Harry Potter. I could argue that Thoth Amon was the original Voldemort. They certainly share the same Gods and aims in life.
I also had a couple of the JvsC Cobra Commander staffs lurking in my 'swords and melee weapons' box. Just cut it down and attached it to Rep Been's staff.
