I've been working on a lot of these for about a year. Have a bunch more waiting for finishing touches. Will be posting a parts list soon too tired right now.
Enjoy

Dart

I wanted to update some of the JvsC era figures and considering Dart and Blackout were two of my favorites I decided to update them into the classic theme.
Parts:
Head,Arms,Upper Legs,Arrow Quiver-TRU exclusive Spirit
Lower Arms-POC Recondo
Toros-Shipwreck (modded by adding pouches to belt to build up the bulk and knife holster)
Lower Legs-Duke (modded by making the sides of the boots thicker)
Knee Pads-not sure I cut and dremeled them off of another figure.
Helmet-BBI figure dremeled out to fit head
Vest-Gung Ho
Knife-POC Duke (added a strip of think flexible plastic and ran that from the knife to the belt so that the holster could move and not be static).

Blackout

Same as above I wanted to give this character a more grounded look. Also I decided to scar up his face a bit as well as some minor burn marks. Blackout is supposed to be a pretty sick guy and I wanted to convey that with this figure.
Parts:
Head-SlayerDesignStudio head modded and added scars.
Torso,Arms-ROC Storm Shadow (modded collar to remove shirt underneath)
Upper Legs-ROC Flash
Lower Legs-25th Beachhead.
WebGear-25th Duke, 25th Cobra Officer,
Belt-JvsC Blackout
Visor-I don't remember

Crystal Ball
Image
Image
One of the things I wanted to challenge myself this go around was not doing straight "redo" of the classic look of some of the more "extreme" looking figures but wanted to add a slight bent to them, updating them but keeping them inline with their original looks. I wanted a gypsy/Rasputin feel to Crystal Ball and I'm happy with how he came out.
Parts
Head-SlayerDesignStudios (modded by adding hair and mustache)
Body, Knife -Thor Loki figure (modded with fur collar and reglued lower "skirt" to keep in position).

Downtown

I've been working on this figure for a year. I was never happy with the look and kept tinkering with him on and off. Ultimately I decided to tone done his color scheme and add more camo to the figure. So basically any area that was red has camo now, except for a few places where I kept it to shout back to the original figure. I also wanted a Colonial Marine feel to him and went for that as well. If you look closely he has a bullet hole in his helmet which I figured he keeps to prove his lack of fear.
Parts:
Head-Star Wars Joker squadron head (HEAVILY modded to make it smaller and fit scale wise on the figure)
Torso-Cobra Winter Viper
Upper Legs- ROC Pit Commando
Lower Legs- 25th Zartan
Feet- 25th SnowJob
Helmet- Resolute Viper
Goggles- POC Zartan I think
WebGear- Mars Trooper
BackPack-Pit Commando
Missles-Original Downtown

Dr. Mindbender
Image
Image
I really didn't like the version that came with the Defense of Cobra Island pack. I ended up using his web gear, lower legs, and cape. That was about all that I felt was salvageable from the figure we got. I feel I finally have the Mindbender that reminds me of how he looked in the cartoon and comic but also what I had hoped we would get. I didn't bother with his monocle because I never liked it and I figured it is more than plausible the good doctor would get laser eye surgery in the 21st century.
Parts:
Head-POC Recondo
Torso,Arms-Resolute Storm Shadow (modded with sculpted "crotch" piece)
Right Leg-25th Airborne
Left Leg-25th Duke
Lower Legs-25th Crimson Guard
Upper portion of boot-Cut off of a POTF Darth Fader and fitted over the Crimson Guard boot)
Gloves-25th Serpentor
Cape- Dr Mindbender 2 capes folded to better resemble Mindbender's cape.

Muskrat
Image

I don't know what it is about Muskrat but I loved this figure as a kid. I wanted to do a pretty faithful copy of the classic figure and went for that looks pretty strongly with this figure. To get the look I wanted I had to alter a lot o parts through sanding and sculpting. I was planning this figure for a little over a year but when it finally came together I made him in less than a day.
Parts
Head-BBI (up for sale on my section of Slayer Design Studio)
Torso-25th Gung Ho (heavily modded and sculpted the entire waist section by sculpting baggier pants and then the upper belt.
Upper Arms-25th Crimson Twin
Lower Arms-various 25th anniv. figures (sculpted watches)
Upper Legs-25th Beachhead (sculpted knife section on right leg leading down to 25th knife holster-sculpted oxygen tank on left leg)
Lower Legs-25th Duke (sculpted bigger boots to the legs to make them more closely resemble the original figure).
Feet-POC Beachhead
Hat,Belt-BBI modded belt
Vest-25th Mutt (heavily modded removed most detail on holster side-then added holster and radio-also added pouches on knife on right side)

Psyche Out
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Another BIG challenge. I liked Psyche Out in the comics but the figure was a bit over the top. I wanted to update this figure and also bring him down to earth in his look. Therefore any silver has been replaced with grey and his strange chest harness that he has is more of a tactical vest now where he would keep papers on people and psychological warfare plans. I'm really happy with how he turned out. The figure feels like Psyche Out to me but has a more muted 21st century military tactician feel to me.
Parts:
Head-BBI modded (For sale on my section of Slayer Design Studios)
Torso,Arms- POC Duke
Upper Legs-25th Hawk
Lower Legs-25th Duke
Knife-POC Rock Viper
Pouches, Holster on chest-BBI various figures
Belt- Artic Scrap Iron.

More coming in the next few months!

Normally not a fan of ME Joe-stuff, but I can really dig Crystal Ball and Dr. Mindbender.

Wow! Impressive as always,I really love how you brought out the skin tones on Dart,it really resembles a Native american now,Hasbro should take notes. Really want a parts list because I want to know what head you used for Crystal Ball. That recipe would be great with a few tweeks for Ras A Ghul. Mindbender is truly awesome as are the rest. Thanks for posting it is always a treat seeing your work no critiques.

Fantastic work on all. And it's hard to believe, but you've stepped up your paint aps for these (didn't think that was possible.)
Again. just great.

Wow, well worth the year of wait! Recondo's head for Mind-bender is perfect! Not crits, though I wish Hasbro would be taking notes.

Psyche Out and Crystal Ball stand out for me the most. I love 'em all but those two... WOW! Consider those ideas stolen.

Incredible customs. Dart and Pathfinder are the standouts to me, great paint, great parts, great customs! Love Psyche-Out too, the parts you used turned him from a wuss to a Bad ass! Fits right in with the POC style.

I have to echo the appreciation for Dart's flesh tones. Superb painting on him.

Downtown looks like a fun PoC update. All of the high points of the original but kicked up several notches for today's standards.

Crystal ball is a cool update. Great use of the Loki base figure. The work on thr head really sells it.

Minbender is perfect, just perfect. Can you show us how you did the cape?

Dart looks incredible. He's totally insipred by the '02 figure but nicely modernized.

unfortunately, that first picture is the only picture in the post that I can see, everything else is red Xs :( I'll have to see if I can get them load on the home computer.

Those are some seroius customs, all are home runs, to cool paint apps and parts selection, executed to the highest degree.

You have certainly out did yourself this time, fantastic work.

Its interesting seeing how other people interpret and update "reviled characters" like Crystal Ball. I like your choices here...It's clearly crystal ball, but you've done more than just take a vintage crystal ball and transplant the detail onto a figure with 25th style articulation.

I think Long Hair would be appropriate here...I've seen it done on other similar Crystal Ball customs and I think it works well and helps....long hair if draped right can add a bit of sinister shade for Crystal Ball's eyes to peer out of. It adds a bit of that "I don't belong anywhere" Goth sensibility.
