I don't know about you guys, but I hated Hi-Tech when he came out back in the new-scupt era. It wasnt his specialty that bugged me. If anything, I was stoked to have a hardcore R&D guy on the team. But the figure was just another shaggy blonde with headgear. I think the preponderance of blonde white guys on the Joe team just started to get to me about that time, so I parted out the figure and never gave the character another thought...until now.

This Hi-Tech is Lieutenant Suddaker Bhattacharya and the head of R&D for the Joes. If Grand Slam and Flash are like the Mythbusters of my 'verse, testing theories and tech in the field, then this guy's the equivalent of James Bond's Q. He runs the lab that cooks up al the near-futuristic gadgets that help Joe compete with Cobra's generaly superior tech.

I gave him a variation on Mainframe's uniform because I liked the idea of some uniformity in the science corps. And I picked the head and hands because it seemed like a solid opportunity to diversify the team a bit. My Hi-Tech's parents were Indian and moved to the U.S. to send their son to the best schools.

What do you guys think of him?

That's awesome man. You really nailed the look you were going for, I would say. And as for the reimaging of the character, I didn't know the first one well, so this one works even better for me ;)

Nice job all around.

I like him. Nice to see more of a lab rat type of Joe. +1 for Ethnic diversity.

Very cool. Great interpretation of the character in a different vein.

if i had this figure, i'd make him a "Lab Rat" than a "Hi-Tech"...

This looks great. I'd say it looks "production" but I think it looks better than that. Very solid paint work, captured the look you were going for very well.

Very Very Very cool, I see I'm not the only one to use the SW Bespin Guard head for an Indian scientist(check my gallery Amija Patel) any way, it nice to see artist think further outside the box and flipping the Joe verse on its side or back or over. Very cool too now all you need is a really cool bio, I would love to know if he got his inspiration for creating tech from "Q". :shifty:

fck yeah, Ray, I love everything about this custom! Everything, especially the bio info, kicks the crap out of that forgettable half-a-character that was the original Hi-Tech.
