5 or 6 weeks ago, I was in my garage looking through my fodder boxes looking for a part for my most recent creation, the repulsorskiff "Niddler's Revenge" and stumbled across a gallon-sized ziplock bag full of those crappy ROC spring-loaded missile launchers (as well as some old ARAH, Iron man 2 and misc. ones mixed in). Initially, I was going to toss them in the trash as they are more or less useless, but decided to see if there was any way of salvaging them for dio parts or tech details. This is what I came up with: Fusion Generators Size Comparison: Perimeter Sensors Size Comparison: Sensor Pods Size Comparison: Sand Pirate Watch Tower Not too bad for stuff that was destined for the trash, huh? There were 3 more devices built for this project, but I have not decided on color schemes for them yet so they will be posted at some point in the future... |

Thanks, Guys! Soulgem wrote: what parts did you use for the watch tower? The watchtower is primarily a turret from the Ringneck, a Star Wars Millennium Minted Coin base, a ROC CC launcher (for the console on the base) and 3 or 4 ROC projectiles (for the shaft of the watch tower). |

Just makes you feel appreciative... |

These really are fantastic, seeing junk parts like these used so effectively as tattooine fodder makes me really wish I was still doing Star wars customs. What are the painting techniques? it looks like several layers of drybrushing. |

These are truly inspirational. It has me looking at what I used to consider junk in new ways. Great way of recycling. |

Can you go over your painting technique? Base coat? Point me in the right direction if you've covered this elsewhere. |

I really like how you used the projectiles as antennas and posts. I've seen and used the launchers for stuff myself but this is the first time I've seen someone combine using the rockets and the launchers for stuff together and it being so freaking cool. |

Thanks guys! Dark Jedi- It was 4 years ago on 8/2 that I had my accident and there is not a day that goes by that I am not appreciative for my second chance My painting technique is a deceptively simple one- lots of layers of drybrushing over a solid colored base with all of the small details picked out afterwards with a REALLY tiny brush. |

Excellent in every way, your paints is of the highest quality, it's not overkill. Have you considered making anything for GI Joes ? If you want, come over to my house and make some cool stuff with my junk parts anytime. |

I used to do Joe customs (mostly commissions) years back, but have more fun doing sci-fi stuff Maybe someday I'll make a new Joe-related custom...
