Had this guy waiting to be finished for the longest time. I was just waiting for more custom projects to require the black dye bath to make all the trouble worthwhile.

I took the basic, classic look of Cobra De Aço and tried to reinterpret it using later-year parts that still filled out the same purpose... except for the head. Instead of a Snake-Eyes or Snake-Eyes-ish head, I went with something fearful and awesome.
Image
Built him entirely out of parts I'd acquired recently in fodder lots: Range-Viper head, Blocker torso, Charbroil arms, Zanzibar waist and Dodger legs. Gotta love those sci-fi-ish Joes and their padded armor bodies! :-D

Still haven't given him a weapon because I want to give him something unique rather than reusing someone else's laser rifles. I'm open to ideas!

That's a pretty cool figure.

The Range-Viper head is a win. Definitely give the character more personality.

Interesting new take on him!
He could use a couple more layers of the yellow, though.

I agree with Tim. I like the head, but the yellow needs some work. My concern - if you dyed the whole figure - is whether any amount of just yellow will hold off the dye leaking through. You may have to do a layer of metallic silver or gold, then resume the yellow paint thereafter.

It's not a De Aco if the head isn't blinged out... Send a Range Viper Head off to Chrometechusa... That will really make this one pop.

That, and I would recommend adding paint over the dye... a coat of black spray paint, mask off and spray what you want yellow with a layer of white then Yellow...and hopefully you'll avoid the dye bleeding.

I like the idea that a Color scheme is enough to define a character...Black body, Yellow chest, leg, and arm pads, chrome head.... no matter what parts you put in there it's a De Aco.

I thought about that, but I started with the silver first and because of the paint's age (it's well over five years old by now) it came out a little "rough", which it seems the photo diminished.
But yeah, it looked rough, so I decided to use the dye to my advantage in giving the yellow armor a "weathered" look to go with the silver.
That being said, I suppose it could use some more layers of yellow, so I'll work on that.

Hm, not sure there. All the sparkling would take away from the more serious, fear-inducing version I was trying for here.

And I could still use ideas for a unique laser weapon for him, if anyone has any.

Agree with the others about the yellow, needs to be a little more prominent. I like what you're going for here, though. As for a suggestion about the laser weapon, if you have it or can track it down, try http://www.yojoe.com/access/d01/28.shtml the lower one

I like how nithing is Snake Eyes or Flash/Grand Slam, but you can instsntly who it is.
I got a nice laser rifle and back pack from Broken Arrow for my custom Flash.

Great update by taking the look sideways. Smart parts choices.
