It matters not how strong a man, for they say that all men will eventually be broken.

To be broken is to succumb to the pain and suffering that is the fate of one who is to be enslaved - and, at last, to relinquish one's will to resist.

All men, regardless of mirth or might, will eventually be broken...

And Whipmaster Tumbo is the breaker...

Tubo Tumbo

"The Whipmaster"

Character Background:

In the sand-swept northern region of Baghrat - the Abyssian city aptly known as "The City of Slaves" - there stands an old stone structure whose legend spans the breadth of an empire. It is known as the Crucible, a slavekeep belonging to the Clan Doggard. It has been called the most terrible place on earth.

Upon any hour of any day or night, there can be heard the deep bellows of misery and woe - horrid screams of terror and torment - reeking out in a deafening cacophony. It is a darkened place where lives are crushed to nothingness, and where hope is lost to the bleakness of abject despair.

Therewithin, the dreaded Whipmaster Tubo Tumbo presides over all. There, he is both god, and devil...

"When I say move, you will move - or I will move you..."

Character Notes:

*Crucible Keepmaster: Whipmaster Tumbo is in charge of the slavekeep known as the Crucible. It is his responsibility that slaves are properly processed - their wills surrendered and dissolved. It is a most gruesome occupation, and one at which Tumbo is exceedingly skilled.

*Cat of Six: Wielded with such remarkable proficiency as though it were a veritable extension of his own arm, Tumbo employs the Cat of Six - a vicious six-poppered whip of heavy, flesh goring cables which he uses to discipline intractable slaves.

*Brainwasher: Tubo Tumbo is a master at the art of psychological reconditioning and brainwashing. A wickedly brilliant individual with a talent for getting inside the heads of his subjects, whereupon he is able to exert complete control.

Quotes:

"[Whipmaster Tumbo] is invaluable to us. With regard to the swift subjugation of skins, there are few his equal..."

--Lord Primo Maximo Doggard (Tumbo's employer)

"Some have been called mighty and dreadful, only to be swiftly trampled beneath the boots of the Whipmaster..."

--Absaloam Savagos, Sabbatrugo (Head of the Sabbatruge for the Clan Doggard)

"Master Tumbo could have continued beating me - and I most surely would have perished. But, he stopped... Master Tumbo saved my life..."

--Anonymous Slave, Crucible Slavekeep, Northern Baghrat, Abyssia

Image

"The will to be free is a wispy thing - as easy to snuff as a candle..."

As always remarkable work bringing great creativity and detail to an original character. It is made even better by the overall epic scale of the universe you've created with these customs. A great vibrant large scale living breathing universe rich with a story and a feel that is completely new and original. Always love seeing your work.

Jbyrrd-- Thank you, brother. I appreciate your comments and rely on your feedback. Thanks for keeping it real.

Rob-- What an awesome, inspiring response. Your words are truly encouraging, and I needed to hear that, brother. Thank you so very much, my friend.

Great as always. He looks to be the type that one does NOT make eye contact with. While I was reading his bio, The movie Princess Bride kept jumping into my head. He reminds me of a more wicked version of the Albino in the Pit of despair. I can even hear him saying "Well, the Prince and Count always insist on everyone being healthy before they're broken" he just has that kind of evil written all over him. You brought that type of character one would expect a slave trader to be into the visual world for all to see.

Meddatron-- LOL. Thanks, brother. I wish that I were more familiar with that film. I can't say that I recall the part you had referred to, but that's funny. I felt certain that you were going to say, "You killed my father, prepare to die!" - which is about the only thing that I actually remember from PB. Oddly enough, though, that would fit as well. :-D

Most importantly, thanks for taking the time to read and interpret my story, thanks for being entertained by it, and thanks so much for the kind comments, sincerely.

I love the size of him. And the beard really sets him off. Another winner.

Push You Down-- Thanks for that, that's awesome. I'm very glad that you dig it. :-D

Keenan-- Thanks, man! Yes, he is very burly - but actually ends up being quite average for an Abyssian. They're just a monstrous lot.

Thanks very much, once again, guys.

Excellent as usual! Have not commented on your work in awhile, but is still one of the "gold standards" on this board.

Bookmarked and saved. The custom is another example of plastic poetry, as is the writing. But that dio scene...the reds...the golds...the details. I put on some Dead Can Dance, and I am there.

Most awesome.

Cap-- Thanks so much! Your comments are always indeed most appreciated.

If you really dig that dio shot, you may want to check out my Sundown post a couple of pages back (if you have not), there are quite a few more pics of that there.

Once again, thanks for the fine remarks, E. Always inspiring, truly.

Btw, what is "Dead Can Dance"?

You put a lot of work into these and your passion shows.

I was wondering though, if you could post a single pic of the character without the effect you use for your *universe*. When some of the colors and textures of the character are darker colors, the definition washes out a little and I'm just not sure what I'm looking at.
