Going to be using the first pic slot of this thread to showcase new additions:

You can find more (and more) of Groot on p. 26.

-----

I foolishly thought this was going to be an easy custom project when I decided to make Hawkeye's mentor turned nemesis turned teammate. But a whole lot of trial and error proved me wrong.
What you see here is the result after two failed attempts:

The arms were a particular pain in the tuckus, but I finally managed to RIT dye a set of dreadnok forearms to match the skin tone of the spare Hawkeye figure I used as a base. Because of the enhanced articulation that resulted, he can almost realistically draw his blade:

He's also got a Cap movie Red Guardian head, an Iron Grenadier sheath, some SHS Wolverine shoulder pads and scratch built sword and tunic.

So what do you guys think?

Well I would say the final was worth the two attempts because that is another perfect parts and well executed custom!! I know the end of year votes are a ways off, but you really have taken your craft to a whole new level!! Always happy to see when you have a new post!

Looks perfect. I really like the pars choice and paint job. I doubt Hasbro could do any better.

I was hoping it was the Marvel Swordman. Perfect job all around on him.

I mean when I saw the topic. So often it ends up being someone's original character.

So I've been wanting a big green baddie to lead my Skrull squad for a long time.

I had high hopes when the Avengers line rolled out it's Skrull, and planned to use him as just an officer, but his short size and lack of articulation bummed me out.

Then, as I was browsing eBay for fodder for another project, inspiration struck and my Super Skrull was conceived:

As you can see, I solved both the height issue and added ankle articulation by swapping in new lower legs. But that's not all:

He's obviously got some flame effects he can use, too, but I wanted to show off the stretchy Thing arm, which came off the same donor as the legs -- a Rise of the Silver Surfer Mr. Fantastic in the 5-inch scale. I had been looking for that figure specifically to find some more appropriately sized arm attachments for my custom Reed Richards. Here's how that paid off:

And of course, like the Super Skrull's Thing arm, the hammer hand is fully modular so Reed can look more normal:

What do you guys think?

That's pretty dang sweet. Didn't even know there was a movie fig with a stretchy Thing arm - gonna have to track one down - the only 5" FF fig I have is the Reed that came with the Fantasticar.

I've had an updated Super Skrull using that new body on the workbench for a while. Definitely need to jump on it now.

Did you have to paint those SHS Reed arms at all, or is the factory color that close? Can't even tell it's a custom in that second pic.

EDIT: Also - how did you swap out the lower legs? I noticed that the new Skrull has those rotating knee joints.

The blue is REALLY close to the blue on the Skrull, but that only helped me with the leg swap. I used a partial leftover leg from a DCIH Public Enemies Superman to adapt the Thing arm so it could swap out and bend at the elbow. Mr. Fantastic uses a SHS Invisible Woman leg as an adapter.

I removed the lower legs and then cut along the joint, severing the molded pin that holds them in place. Then I removed the 5-inch Mr. Fantastic's lower legs at the knee, pulling out the pin that holds them in place. Turns out the Skrull knee holes are oversized so I didn't even have to bore them out to get the fatter pin through.
