Annihilus has been on my "to-do" list for years. Finally got the inspiration for parts when Kilcarr sent me a Redakai Warnet fig -- I slapped on some demon wings that I got from some random demon chick I found in an eBay lot, modded an Iron Man head and added a bit of Green Stuff and Styrene and figured he can go on the "good enough" list for now: After I got the Saint Walker and Razer heads from Rodimus VTS, I've been trying to get these customs off the ground, but was having trouble with color matching (wanted a metallic blue for SW and metallic red for Razer, but couldn't get the mix I liked.) Finally gave up on trying to reach "perfection" and just decided to call them done. Although, I now see where SW needs some smoothing out after the last bit of dry-brushing I gave him. Son of a [LASER BLAST]. Oh - and I whipped up Tomar Re this weekend. - Sculpted a fin, beak, & ears on a Bleeding Edge Iron Man head, slapped him on my old Hal Jordan custom, added SDCC Kyle Rayner's hands and sculpted some non-human feet and decided he'd do. But that's all I've got for this go-round. Cheers! |

Great work. To get your metallic look I would use a metallic base color you want. Then go over it with Tamiya clear. I really make the color 'pop' and bring out the metallic shade desired. |

Thanks! Yeah, I've been doing the Tamiya clear over metallics for years - and I don't care for the results. The Tamiya is too sticky and glossy and doesn't spread evenly enough. And even when it does, I don't get the look I want. I got some new "Metal Medium" acrylic resin for paint mixing, and it works pretty well, but I still have to find the right base. Can't get the deep red that I want for the Red Lanterns to come out right at all. I actually had SW near where I wanted him (to match the Brother Warth fig), but then went back for "touch-ups" and effed it up completely. Should've left him alone. |

The Lanterns look good. I don't really care about the characters at all, but there's no denying the craftsmanship. Annihilus is [LASER BLAST]'. Simply fantastic! (no pun intended) |

Latest group photo of the Rainbow Coalition: Still need to make a Star Sapphire, Jade, Soranik Natu (Sinestro's daughter), Bleez (the Red Lantern chick) and maybe a Boodikka so it's not such a sausage fest. And a few more aliens. I was going to make an Atrocitus from scratch, but I think I'll wait until the Atrocitus/John Stewart 2-pack comes out, then get it and mod Atrocitus like I did my Kilowog and call it good. Gonna take a break from Lanterns for a while and maybe finish the full-up Oa dio/playset that I've been working on. |

I'm afraid I don't know enough about some of these characters, but names are familiar. Cool to see them done though. Have you talked about the logo display before? I can't recall. I think you need an actual lantern to paint green to pose the figures with. |

I'm more than a little jealous of your corps. But how can you stop without a Larfleeze? |

How big you planning to make your Atrocitus? He really seems to vary depending on the artist. |

I had planned on using a Beta Ray Bill as my base for the scratch-built version, so basically just as big as the larger MU figures. The Graphitti Designs version looks pretty big compared to the dwarf human GLs, so who knows if I'll need to mod it at all. If he's the same height as factory Kilowog, I'll likely leave him as-is, but if he's shorter, he'll need some growth hormones... |
