So I've been trying to expand the ranks of Destro's private army recently.

I started a while back with some named characters, specifically Mayhem, whom most folks seemed happy with, and Voltar, whom everyone seemed to want to see with his traditional helmeted head. As you can see below, I aim to please.

Next up are what should've been the easiest LBCs of the bunch. But once I had my Nullifiers pieced together from a couple of Speed Metal figures, I realized I wanted the gold tones to match the rest of Destro's boys better. So I painted them. Here's how that worked out:

While I was making vehicle operators, I decided to crew my D.E.M.O.N. with a couple of Ferrets. The heads were bear to adapt, but the rest of the figure seemed to fall together pretty naturally. Here are the finished products:

And lst but not least, Destro's frogmen -- the Undertows. These are just new-headed, re-equipped ROC Eels with some paint work:

What do you guys think?

WOW.

Wonderfully done.

Would love to see a larger group shot of all of them if you end up displaying them together with your other IG figures.

The Ferrets are excellent translations, the Undertows good updated looks, and the Nullifiers are great re-imaginings.

Yeah - completely amazing. I've never given two craps about the IG guys, but I would snatch these up in a heartbeat.

Question - what brand/type of gold paint are you using? That stuff is just beautiful.

These look great. My only critque is with the Undertows. I think the masks need to be painted. Now it looks like they're just in primer.
And I believe your Nullifiers will go on my to do list- really love that look.

Thanks, guys.

I may go back and do some accent painting on Undertow's mask. Or I may see if I can't get a hold of the original. That one-eyed look was very distinctive.

The gold paint is called American Accents. Comes in tiny cans (it's spray paint). I spray it on a lined paper plate and brush it on.

I LOVE the Iron Grenadiers and these all look fantastic.

props for keeping Voltar's color scheme but macho-ing it up enough to gain him some respect.

Thanks. That was really my goal with him. I always thought Voltar was a character and a figure seriously maligned by flat-out silly color choices.

The Nullifiers and the Ferrets stand out to me. They have enough of the original to be recognizable but updated with 25th parts to move the concepts further.

Now you must tackle one of my favorites, :annihilator:

I like those Ferrets a lot. The use of the BBQ torso is inspired. Might have to steal those . . .

The Nullifiers are well done, but they look too much like Accel Suits, so I'm not into 'em. They do work as the character though.

Voltar kicks ass, and the Undertows are simple but cool. Maybe try the first 25th CC head for them, with the single eye painted on? I kinda think the Ice-Viper head might work too, just sculpt over the left eye . . .

*APPLAUSE*

These are awesome! Your paint schemes and aps are sweet. Plus they've got so much relation to the vintage figures while being modern and relevant.

:voltar: what color and brand of paint is that? is it one you mixed yourself or did it come from a bottle? :shifty:

Any thought of making the IG Sergeant Major (Marvel comic) too ?

Or a new custom pilot for the Dominator since it never had one?
