I've been messing around with ideas for more 1:18 scale weapons. First, here are some Shapeways models and 3D models. Two of the 3D models were made by Giga Bread (GI Guppy the third). The Shapeways models did not really turn out, all detail was lost and a portion of the AK is missing. I only ordered them to check on scale.

Man, that sniper rifle is pretty swell though.

Personally I'm happy with the AKs that are already out there. Would you not be better putting your resources into something without such an available counterpart?

There's been a lot of talk about that. These weapons are for me just as much as they are for everyone. I'm not happy with any AK currently on the market. Marauder's is not proportioned right and has the exaggerated wood grain, Hasbro's is too hard to acquire cheaply and most are not painted, and the Indy ones are painted but are very soft and are often deformed. I want an accurate factory painted AK. The plan is that if this next set goes to production*** to have the wood grain painted at the factory. And lastly, adding the AK doesn't really take away from the resources since the entire set goes onto one mold anyway.

***Right now this is looking unlikely though. I haven't recovered the costs of my first set and with Marauder releasing many of the same weapons soon it does not look like I will be able to recover the costs in the future.
