OK. So I wasn't satisfied with the comic pack Kwinn we got. The stupid Big Ben body and fur collar connected to the head and neck made him look more like the Grinch than Kwinn. Would have rather had the "shorts version" anyway. But of course, that's all we had for a while.

Fast forward to now.
I'm not a fan of the modern figures at all. So even that Kwinn disappointed me. He's supposed to be almost 7 feet tall and he's the same height as the rest.

But since the only compatible parts between modern and ARAH figures are the legs, I figured let's mix 'n match (since the modern legs are longer and would give the figure some height on an ARAH body)

The skin tones don't match, the waist doesn't match the legs, but I love it! (I can't paint, so don't suggest it)

head: CP Kwinn (modified)
torso & arms: 93 BC Duke (modified)
waist: Corps (modified)
legs & belt: 2013 Kwinn

First I had to cut off that dumb fur collar without doing too much damage to the head. I got rid of most of it, but then had to sand down the back of the collar since I needed to make more hair for his head where the collar was. Yeah, the neck is a pin, but if you push the head forward, you can't really tell :-P

I went with the Duke torso since the color was good and I was going for something similar to the modern style figure. And since modern Kwinn came with a vest, I don't mind the straps on Duke so much. Just had to remove all the camo spots.

Now for the waist and legs. The trouble with modern figures is the waist. It's connected to the stomach, so you cannot do a simple swap. I tried finding a tan waist piece to match Kwinn's legs, but it proved impossible.

Every waist was either too light, too dark, too brown, too green, too orange or too gray. I have most of the figures I thought would be a good color match, but the others one are tough to tell from just photos and I'm not gonna shell out money for a figure based on a guess from a photo.

Besides there's no guarantee the waist would fit. I tried some ARAH style waists and the legs didn't fit well. The waists would cause one of the legs to stick out to one side. I thought a new sculpt (JvC, VvV) waist would be better, but again, no color matches from the ones I had anyway.

Surprisingly, a Corps waist that I had just received in a junk lot fit perfectly. The colors don't match, but it looks OK. However, I decided to use Kwinn's belt to distract from the color difference.

He's so awesome, he gets to wear TWO weasel skull necklaces! ;-)

If you know of a waist that's a better color match and also fits well, I'd like to know :-D

Interesting concept for sure. The head is small, but thats a tiny (get it) critique and the arms a tad short. I've always wondered about using Sgt. Savage parts for Kwinn, but considering this is for the most part an LBC, it does a good job of filling in the void of your collection.

I dig it. A lot, even for not being an old school collector. Can we see a shot next to Snake Eyes to get a feel for the improved ARAH height/scale?

That's an inventive selection of parts, I like it.

I don't have the figures handy...but how does the Modern Movie Kwinn's head compare in size to the Comic Pack one? are they both tiny?

that is a good question. ^

my only real gripe with this is the head. Other than that and the couple of paint matching issues he looks fantastic.

I'd probably use the issue 21 comic pack snake eyes, since it has that awesome updated head.
