I never intended to make a Superman let alone 3. he just never fit into my verse.
But when Dr.Bindy choose it for the NJC I thought I'd support my friend and make one.

I had Keenan shrink a couple of Super heads for me years ago with the intentions of using them for other customs.

I used one for the Superman of Earth One Kal-El but wasn't totally satisfied with the size of the figure.

My second attempt was one of my favorite DC Characters Superman of Earth 2 which is actually the original Superman but renamed Kal-L in order to use him as a continuing figure in the comics. I used the Hercules body and the Omega Red boots plus the second of my head shrinks.

Well Since I made two, I figured what the heck and I made another of my favorite Characters Superman of Earth 3 AKA Ultraman

Using the same recipe as I did for Kal-L I added some sculpt and the punisher head.

Thoughts?

Truly beautiful. Very nice, crisp paint jobs and excellent parts choices. I like that you made Kal-L bigger than Kal-El. And the Punisher's head works perfect for Ultraman.

I would love to see these made on a production level. If only Mattel didn't have the DC license :-(

Sigh...if only.
And the really sad part is they see how much more popular this style is.

Thanks for noticing the size difference. He is depicted as larger in the comics. I think its due to more years ezposed to the sun.

Thank you for the comments

You're welcome!

Is the Earth-1 Superman head from the DC Direct Superman from around 2004 or so?

Well done! As a side note check out the new MU/Avengers Hyperion, I'm sure this will become the standard Superman custom figure base.

hey these men are super!

seriously though, Earth 2 (the one the won a share of the NJC crown) was my fave. The scale, the paint and the parts were all perfect.

Thank you Gentlemen,

The head is from the DC direct superman as is the head for the Elder Superman.. two different figures.
Keenan shrunk them for me along with a few other figures. He really did some nice work.

I hope the Hyperion is easy to find and that I can dye over the orange. If so I'll be buying as many as I can get my hands on.

What dying process do you use? I was under the impression Rit no longer works.

Rit does not
I now use ( iDyePoly ) works great... sometimes too great. Keep it in Blue to long makes a nice purple :-/ .

I dye almost every custom I make, then I base paint it. Keep in mind that these figures are made from a variety of plastics and will not all dye the same. Hercules is a perfect example. Arms feet one depth, upper chest another and torso another.

When I base paint I almost always use spray paints for polycarbiates. Tape off with plumbers tape and you will get nice crisp lines.

Joe - I'm doing more spray painting than ever, so I have to ask for brand names and types of paints you referred to. At least for figures.

what then do you use for vehicle type stuff? same?

Because of the type of plastic used they don't always stick.
Ill make you a list of paints
