This is the first custom I have worked on in over a year. I would like to dedicate it to my father. When I started working on 1:18 'Action Man' customs, we started talking about which ones I was going to make. The first thing he said was: "Are you going to make teh dog sled?" The first words out of my mouth were "Hell, yes!"

When I saw the Wippin' It Challenge, I though: Why not at least post teh parts and see where it goes. Nearly two weeks later, I have a great feeling of achievement in finishing the set:

Fantastic! The Playmo stuff is perfect for this.

I had to cut the hand rail off the back of the sled and extend it. Was far too short.

Love it. The dogsled theme has always resonated with me. Was a big Call of the Wild and White Fang fan as a kid. We never had the actual 1/6 set, but used to make up our own with whatever we had on hand.

Thinking I might try to do the same kind of thing myself.

Yes. Hell yes. Drbindy summed up my feelings perfectly: I've always been interested in dogsleds and their use in arctic exploration, and this set is like a dream come true, toy-wise. The work you did is so subtle but very impressive. The thing that really sells this set is the attention to detail: the crates, the tie-downs, the map, the additional gear in the sledge; everything looks great and has a purpose.

Between this and Oreobuilder's version for the 50th Anniversary project, we've seen two phenomenal dogsled customs in about a month. I have to make one of these for myself, and I'll be using this one as a model to start from as soon as I can find the Playmobil sets. Fantastic work.

Now if somebody would just make a super-articulated dog...

The tie-downs are red elastic, looped and tied under the slats so that they can be taken on and off easily.

So cool to see you back in the saddle and that you haven't lost your touch. This is a fantastic set.

And I just noticed the bowls and the dog food. As if this set needed to get any more awesome! Fantastic attention to detail with those elements. I would have loved that as a kid: I was always preoccupied with the figures taking care of their animal companions, so it's super-cool to see that taken into account!

Those were actually a very last minute addition. Last weekend, in fact. I had already added bits and pieces not in the original set, then I got to thinking about the dogs and remembered that I still had a couple of Stikfas dog bowls. Wheels started turning in my head and I ordered the dog food packets off Ebay on Sunday.

I feel that these are items that Habro/Palitoy might have added to the set if they had thought about it.
