First off, Bane.

Image

Nothing really innovative here. I saw joemichaels's Bane in the last NJC and had to make one. Here's why it's a WIP(?). I can't decide if I want to do a Venom delivery system or not. And if I do, what kind of delivery system? I've toyed with the idea of Epipens or going the classic wrist control to the back of the head, but I dislike dealing with hoses. I may just leave him as is, and just say he's constantly Envenomed.

Next is Cap.

After seeing the Winter Soldier trailer with Cap in basically this outfit, I wanted to make one. The colors on the head vs body don't quite match, but I'm garbage at color matching so I'm fine with it. I did however make the shoulder holster after a 25th OG13 donated to the cause. It's the first time I've done that, and I'm pretty pleased with the results. Also, it may not be picked up, but I battle damaged the shield with a familiar pattern. :shifty:

This was just for fun.

Anyhoo, do you chaps have any thoughts?

You could go with twisty ties for Bane's steroid juice tubes. Drill bit right to his forearms and back of his head.

I never understood why Bane is always shown with these hoses going to his wrists/arms.

Anyone fast enough with a blade or edged weapon could cut the hoses.

Why not have a device implanted along the spine like Sei-Tin in the DDP comics?

Small hoses coming out form the device attached to different sections of his back (pressure points, acupuncture points)...

Imagine something like Spider-Man's chest symbol, with the body of the spider being the device and the legs are the hoses.

Yeah, I've got a couple of ideas for how to make the apparatus, I just don't know that I want to. Or if I want to go the Epipen route instead. Like DJ said, it never made a ton of sense to me that he just had this one really obvious weak point. An Epipen or Adrenalin Shot delivery system would be faster, and make more sense.

yeah, I need to update my newer Cap outfit. I was going for a military ops look on mine, but I like the new movie version enough, I need to do something like this.

I wonder if - on matching the helmet to the outfit, a mild black wash on the helmet would work?

That's not a bad idea, but I'm still not sure how to do a paint wash.

Both are looking good! I love the new Cap uniform, and have been trying to figure out what I want to do to copy it (since the movie figures suck!); yours is a good starting point/base, as I would most likely remove the red/white stripes on the legs, and may use an unmasked head as well (from the first Captain America movie figure).

You bring up a good point about the leg stripe. I thought about that too, but I wanted a little red on the figure still since I was going for the muted shield. Plus, the whole I'm terribly lazy thing. :whistling:

There is some different colored tubing, much like the old school stuff that you can buy in the craft section of WM. It's normally used for those necklaces and such. You could use it for the Venom tube if you wanted something different.

I really like how you painted Bane's mask, usually that is difficult for me to pull off.

I like both of these quite a bit.
Your Cap is simple, yet a thousand times better than what's in the stores.

Same with Bane. So simple, but so awesome.
I like the idea of the wrist controller for his delivery system, and if you don't want the weak point of exposed hoses, there's no reason that a wrist unit couldn't deliver the venom directly in to his bloodstream without hoses being necessary.
