I love the leather look, and the almost steampunk aesthetic. But oddly while I love every element of the custom - I don't think they work well together.

All that leather detailing says to me a pilot or steampunk technology guy, the swords and arrows say ninja, the gun says commando (and strangely steampunk again) and the head says James Bond, or possibly the guy from the Golden Compass - none of which seem to work with his back story or specialty.

The custom is beautiful, and the leather effect on the jacket makes me want to do one of these exactly the same. I love the color choices and the integration of copper. The integration of the sword and arrows look flawless, and make this scream historical custom.

Honestly, I would seriously consider giving him a new back story and ditching the gun. He could be a time traveler, back to primitive disaster prepper or a SCA guy - something that takes advantage of the classic look of the figure.

Love the idea of this kind of look for a time traveler. I agree with Raps about how awesome each part looks, and I also get what he's saying about how the various themes potentially conflict. That said, if that's the way you wanted him, then we can take a hike.

Even if you don't change the story, I think a guy who dresses like this and carried a bow would probably also carry revolvers. That simple switch for me would make it much more cohesive... though the time traveler thing... love it.

The weathering on this is fantastic. I agree that ditching the machine would be a good idea, but for a different reason. I think he would be more bada*# without it. Like Soap in Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels says, "Guns for show, knives for a pro."

I agree with both of you. The idea was indeed to have him loaded with heteroclitic weapons... dont' know if it's the right word ;-)

The steampunk look was also the idea from the start. If it was not part of the contest I would probably have chosen a back story closer to the time traveler persona.

That being said, even these days, I would dress like that if I was some kind of mission specialist, just because I like the look of it :-)

This is a Great figure. Everything works for someone NOT GI JOE in my book though.

A kind of wilderness specialist/martial artist IMHO. Though the Steampunk is certainly there. Possibly Explorer/Merc?

The Head have to admit is the part that just makes you think BOND (guess due to the amount of customs of Bond now with Craig's head).

That's kind of funny because when i acquired that figure I had no clue who he was. In my defense, I'm really not a Bond fan.

And also, once the contest is over, the bio doesn't need to be glued to the figure. He'll just stand beside the rest of my customs, i'll change that in my heart :-P

+1 for it sounding dirty anyway... :D

I'm curious what you did with the scabbard for the sword. How did you make that?

I have nothing to add for the figure critique, but I am curious why you chose the back shot for his filecard. Either of the other shots you took would have worked so I'm curious if there was some reason you thought the from behind shot summed up the character better.

I used a random sheath from my fodder box. Just cut top and lower section
