OK this is my new favorite. Well definitely my new favorite jet but probably my overall favorite. Honestly it is hard to say because I love them all so much LOL. But I am really loving this one right now. It took a lot of hours but very pleased with the results.

The bomb bays on the wings do open and will have bombs in them but I am waiting on delivery of the bombs so they are empty at the moment.

I was lost on what color I was going to paint it but Phranto pointed out its general resemblance to the jets that Cobra flew in the opening episode of the cartoon so I adopted the same color scheme as those.

The base vehicle was the same Hammerhead sub used to build my VamFireBat. Which was originally inspired by Blood Brigades Mosquito jet.

I will be posting WIP pictures later tonight so check back to see the evolution of this plane from sub to finished project.

Hope you all like this one as much as I do.

The top view makes it look like the cockpit is too big.

The bottom view reminds me of a B2 bomber/F-117 fighter.

I get the feeling this would be more of a slower stealth bomber-y type of aircraft than a super fast/maneuverable fighter jet.

Minus the cockpit, that design would be a great drone.

Yeah I kinda imagine it as a universal fighter/bomber. Very good for heavy bombing but still maneuverable enough to do some light dog fighting if needed.

This is one wicked bird D, I already told you i like it but seeing it painted , I have to say it is really cool.

OK here are some of the shots I snapped while it was a WIP. I think that in this case the WIP pictures really enhance the build because you can truly see the modgepodge of parts that went into it.

So this is what I started with just the sub with the amputated wings glued on it.

Image

So then added the rest of pieces I harvested off of the Raven but the problem was, I did not have a nose cap for the sub so I decided to throw a RT rocket on the front, it was going to have this long nose with bombays on either side of the nose but luckily I mounted it slightly crooked.

Image

I also had added the front and rear landing gear and under body from the Conquest.

Image

So since it was crooked I was going to cut the nose and take a 2 inch section out and twist it slightly and put it back together. So in the process I decided to take 3/4 of the rocket out and just leave the nose cone. So then had the problem that my bomb bays were gone, which lead to me separating the rocket and mounting them under the wings where the landing gear originally was.

The other problem that I had was that my conquest front landing gear was missing its wheels. That was when I came across a play school or something plane that I stole one of the landing gear pods off of and mounted it in place of the front landing gear. This worked out awesome, so much better then the original landing gear would have been. It really filled out the body of the plane.

Dang, dont like the paint job huh, LOL. I thought the paint job came out pretty good. I hate painting, if I knew it was better without paint then with paint I would have not painted it and saved myself a couple of hours of stress. LOL

DarkJedi is on to something. The cockpit canopy does look too long relative to the other elements in the design.

Do you have a vacuum former or access to one? A clear canopy would de-emphasize the length. As a silver canopy it really stands out from the dark grey of the rest of the fuselage.

My sympathies to the pilot of that plane. If it's not right above him, he ain't gonna see it.

Nope, no vacuum. Maybe I will paint the front of the canopy black like the area around it, That should make the canopy appear smaller.

We are in an electronic age, He flies by monitors and radar. he has a complete panoramic view projected on the inside of the canopy.

I altered the canopy. See if this looks any better.

I really like the new mods to the canopy.
You did a good job with this bird D.

The paint looks smooth and like I told you before I would have given it white stickers. I think this is a fun toy and wouldn't mind having it in my collection

If you would have given it a single tail fin it would look a lot more like the SR-72 images floating around.

I think you should do the canopy all black now. Also maybe cover the whole thing with a flat spray.

I am pleased with the canopy. And it was painted in flat paint before I deliberately sprayed it in high gloss. LOL. I told Phranto that you would holler it needed to be flat.

That is interesting, That is the first I had ever seen that plane. It is much more sleek then this one as well.
