So, I got a free Locust as a bonus from an awesome eBay seller and I started working on it

Image

I was thinking it would be a fast response medic chopper - and the "bombs" would actually be medkits.

My original idea was to have a red cross on the side with one arm of it going onto the canopy but I don't know if the red will look ok with the light blue windshield. I just kind of stalled after I got this far. Also the stark black against the white is jarring so I need to weather it to reduce the contrast. Should I try to paint the canopy with translucent paint to a different color? What can I add? Any ideas for this WIP appreciated.

I'd go with this kind of color scheme. I think it would hit all the right notes for what you are looking for and work well with the blue canopy.

I like the blue canopy, I think it'll be fine.

are you going to build a harness for stretchers on the side like those old M.A.S.H helicopters from the Korean War?

I like the idea but I think it's too small. I think a medical copter would be much much bigger. Maybe it could be some kind of artic helicopter.

I love the idea and concept. Kind of a quick response for a single medic that can arrive on scene and stabilize the soldier/victim until a transport can arrive. And the medkit "bombs" could be dropped to assist in the chance that their is a battle medic on the ground and he needs more supplies.

As far as color scheme, I see nothing wrong with a red cross on the sides just below the canopy and I don't feel it would clash with the blue. And I think the stark contrast between the black engine and the white body looks great. I don't know that hanging a patient from this chopper is an ideal situation I do believe some backboards and stokes baskets could be incorporated onto the chopper to use for patient stabilization once on the ground.

Edit for Virtual Customizing:

I liked the idea so much I did a quick mockup in Paint.

Paint the skids black and the rotor black with the tips red.

I think the blue canopy would look cool with the Coast Guard scheme (orange stripes outlines with pin black) - perhaps you could add some USS Flagg stickers for authenticity

If the blue canopy is a problem the reliant of the locust that came with the general has smoke/clear canopy

First, what type of emergency medical vehicle are you considering? Is it like a real chopper that would have room to transport a single prone victim and medical personnel? Is is strictly a 'stow and go' fast evac type vehicle that moves as speeds like a Rebel Snowspeeder?

I think it needs a bigger body behind it, with the Locust section being the cockpit for .a bigger emergency medical vehicle. Something like this: http://www.yojoe.com/archive/unproduced/vortex.shtml

I think the blue striping with the red cross will work.

I do agree that the purpose might be off. You could make it part of DEF and copy the C.O.P.S. Air Raid helicopter design.
