It's been a slow year for me, customs-wise, but I had an idea I really wanted to try, and the Halloween theme gave me the motivation to do it: The Mummy I wanted an articulated, realistic looking mummy. For adventures and the like. So I wrapped all the pertinent joints with Teflon tape, and then wrapped the whole thing in some thin fabric tape I got in the $1 section at Target. Then I just painted a base coat and then dry brushed a few other appropriate colors on the top. The joints still work, though not by much. As one might expect from an actual living mummy. Overall, I think he suits my needs pretty well. |

amazing work man. If someone told me they were going to wrap a figure head-to-toe in fabric tape and call it a mummy, I'd have said 'yeah right'. But you pulled it off brilliantly. And the paints are just perfect. |

I totally love this! The only suggestion I can make is to paint the face a shade of brown or brown wash (more mummy like) and the eyes completely white to top it off. As it stands now, it looks more like someone dressed up (albeit very well) in a mummy costume. Very cool idea. |

Yeah this was fantastic. I agree the only way to improve it is to make the head underneath look really old and decayed. |

I agree with the others about making the skin look older/decayed. Other than that, this is an excellent custom! drbindy wrote: If someone told me they were going to wrap a figure head-to-toe in fabric tape and call it a mummy, I'd have said 'yeah right'. But you pulled it off brilliantly. Exactly what I thought! Darn, now there's a Thundercats Mumm Ra on my to do list too..... |

Thanks a bunch, everybody! I knew I needed to do something about the head, but with the time constraints on the NJC I had to just go forward with what I had. I wanted to try and keep the angry eyebrows visible, though I agree on the skin tone. Overall, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. |
