Prelude to the Rise of the Robots NJC

I started these 1, 5, and 5 years ago. They're long overdue.

This first one was pieced together for Custom Celebration IX based on soem work Chief was doing. I just ran out of time and had to back burner it. Then the silver I was using to base coat never dried. I tried to paint over it and the paint kept flaking off even wwith sealer. I had to strip it back down to plastic and it was still a pain to paint. Of course Hasbro revealed their 4" version at Toy Fair.

Next, is Starscream in ARAH. I started him 5 years ago for the Transformers as Humans NJC. Still not 100% finished, I still need to paint the backpack and guns as well as do some clean up, but closer than it has ever been before.

Lastly is a War World Robot I started based on Tankster's work back in 2011. The major obstacle was that I wanted to scratch build the hands so they would be large like they should be and fully articulated. The second issue was attaching everything to the body so it would have all of the articulation of the actual 3A toys. The last issue was was the weathering and layer after layer after layer after layer of paint. The addition of the magnets to the accessories happed this week after I thought I was done. This custom is the the reason I don't have anymore customs to show.

For months S.H.I.E.L.D. had been tracking down leads for the [ULTRA TOP SECRET]. After the successful raid on the Hydra facility, Director Colson contacted Joe Colton about procurring an item stored in the warehouse below the facility, a large crate marked "GI JOE".

Inside the crate was a relic from a bygone era; a heavily armored robot built by the Rothchild Corporation for the Great War. Fortunately, the war ended before the Bertie Mark II saw full production. Joe Colton had requested the robot be made part of the earliest incarnation of GI Joe, but funding for the necessary upgrades was denied. The Strategic Scientic Reserve were brought in the ensure the project was mothballed.

With Bertie back at the Pit, the Joes made quick work of repairs and upgrades. Mainframe and Firewall removed all vaccuum tubes and replaced the Turing mechanics with an all new CPU. Lowight and Grunt worked on the optics and targeting systems. Sci Fi, Flash, and Tripwire worked on his arsenal. Steeler and Clutch overhauled anything that moved, but wouldn't let anyone touch the dings or dents.

Steeler: "That thing is awesome. He's a walking tank."

Bertie is terrific. The weathering/rust effect is perfect.

Starscream looks great. Only suggestion would be to paint the helmet black.

Starscream is awesome. And that robot is great, looks like a robotic minion from World War II. And from a Tylenol bottle and air freshener cap.....nice.

Amazing work. That Bertie is fantastic. If you hadn't listed the parts I would assume you bought one of those $100+ figures

Painting Starscream's head os on the to do list. I went with the toy's dark grey but the animated "so dark grey it's black" is more iconic.

Also, because I spent so much time on Berties fingers, some wips.
Checking the cuts before drilling the holes for the pin rods.

That Bertie is a thing of beauty...

Is that another wee robot beside him?
