I imagine that Kamakura was meant to be a serious ninja/commando hybrid for Devils Due to groom and use a lot. Somewhat of a new iconic ninja for the GI Joe brand

That showed us how they wanted an updated Snake Eyes for the 00's by making him be Snake Eyes' protege and follow in his footsteps. It made sense, since the story in the beginning of the arc was about the Joes getting too old for this stuff.

Sean Collins has been written as a whole character and as pretty much a guy you can like, but he still hasn't reached iconic status. He could have, but I think that he's pretty much going to stay in the shadows of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. He had the makings to be something serious, if only he looked that way

Unfortunately Hasbro has made some funny molds of him (the Spy Troop gorilla and the AA mustard head ninja) and the vvv Kamakura was okay

Here is a simple try at giving him "that look"

I like your take on him a lot. Although the mask just screams Beach Head to me. I too thought that this would be the direction he would follow. I'm going to have to keep this concept in mind for a future custom.

That's funny, since I have another head that I used for my 25th style BH, so there was no reason for me to let this head go to the side. I'm going to post him in a day or so

Thanks for the comment :)

I dig him. The mask doesn't bother me, as it goes along with the pants, IMO.
Either way, nice job.

Thanks, JFAK! I wonder if the Firefly head would be better however? Since I don't have him, I'll wait until I get him in my hands to see if that's a good choice. I like the current ski mask look however, it makes him really "commando-ish" for the moment

I would have used the Firefly head myself. Its more ninja-y but this works too. And I like the look of the ninja togs over the fatigues. Very cool.

Cool idea... I think I'd at least try the Firfly head...it's got a more tailored look that fits a professional like Kamakura.

do you have any pics against a neutral background? I dunno if it's the figure or bits of the background, but the midsection looks really odd...like it's offcenter and or made too long...I can't quite see what it is that's bothering me about it.

I like him as well, but I am wondering if a firefly head wouldn't look better.

I used to think that Kama was supposed to be SE but w/o the horrible accident. A sort of What If scenario that would have fans questioning what SE would turn into if there was no helicopter face burning voicebox destrying accident. When Kama first showed up as Kama he was sporting the original proposed colors for SE i.e. camo green and dark blue. Too bad the whole Overlord/ Kama conflict got nixed by Scanner. It had a lot of potential.

Either way; I've always thought of Kama in the same lines as you.

Great job. :-D

Other than his horrid figures, I'm not too familiar with the character other than that he is Snake Eyes' apprentice. From what you have explained in your short synopsis, this figure really fits. I love the mixture of traditional and modern with the martial arts top and the military pants. While the ribbed look is distinctively Beach-Head, there is no reason why another character can't sport the mask. I think it works here to break up the "ninja-ness" that the shirt evokes and really lets you know that the mask isn't for show, but for function.

His gear looks great too... another great blend of old and new.

I also love the darker paints you used. That was one thing I hated about Spy Troops Kamakura. His colors were just too bright in comparison to other Spy Troops figures like Hacker or Crosshair.

It's a great figure that is going to look great with your other 25A figure!

Yah, this is pretty much the only Kama fig I've seen that makes him respectable as something other than Joe's resident Power Ranger. This makes him into somebody that's gonna bust your ass up.

I appreciate the comments, everyone. Thanks!

Kamakura is the kid from the last issue of the Marvel comic run. He wrote to Snake Eyes about joining the Army, and that last issue was actually Snake Eyes' letter back to him. Here's some nuetral backgrounds for you all:

Head: 25th Anniversay BeachHead (everybody guessed that)
Torso & Arms: 25th Storm Shadow
Legs: 25th Snake Eyes
Holster: 25th Gung Ho
Hands are from a BBI diver figure, and so is the ammo pouch on his waist.

this is a cool Kamakura. I like the ninja/commando blend of him.
I made mine in the v1 style with the pads but this is cool. I like the backgrounds you used in your pics too.
