The story continues as Hawk and company try to unravel the mystery their prisoner presents and the newest members of the Joe team continue to settle into their new home base.

Check it out at Checkpoint Alpha:

Then pop back in here and let me know what you think.

Thanks for looking.

Quality stuff as always, Spin.

I wasn't expecting Sparks to show up. Good to know you found a use for him to set him apart from Breaker.

I really like your Torpedo LBC, by the way. Long Range's head conveys a Hawaiian native look far better than Hasbro's actual figure could.

Where's the medical center from? I'm not all THAT familiar with GIJoe playsets but I don't recall seeing it anywhere...

My only complaint would be Scarlett... her proportions are freaky. I never much liked her JvC figure's torso to begin with but with ARAH limbs slapped on, it gets even freakier...
Have you considered using the CP Scarlett's head on the VvV Scarlett body (not the first one but maybe the single pack or desert patrol squad versions)? Or is that mold not to your liking?

Either way, keep the great stuff coming! When can we expect the next chapter?

Another great chapter, Spin. I like you tying in Romulus and Remus quite a bit.

Nice job, Spin

The Romulus and Remus riddle was interesting, so also is the fact that Destro is already a well known public figure.

I really like your characterizations, all of the joes you have are unique people.

Very nice, Spin, as always. Great dialogue. Once again you take a chapter that really has nothing going on and make it very captivating. Good work.

Hey, thanks for the feedback, guys.

Good to know I could sustain some interest through another chapter distinctly lacking in the old ultra violence.

I promise that drought will end next chapter (who knew Hawk was so bloodthirsty? ;) ).

As for the Scarlett custom, Jay, rest assured that's not the ultimate evolution of the character for me. In fact, the figure had to be kit bashed because I realized (after I'd cannibalized my JvC Scarlett to get parts for what she'll ultimately look like) that I needed a representation of her that was closer in appearance to her look from Beginnings, mostly because the impetus for her eventual change in appearance hasn't happened yet in the plot (read: there's big changes ahead for Scarlett, both in character development and appearance).

:shifty:

Oh, and don't let Destro's noteriety in my Joeverse worry you too much. It's safe to say that, although a lot of folks know who runs M.A.R.S., they don't know the real Destro...yet.

Don't worry. Thirds are already in the oven.

I'm planning to get these chapters up once a week with a possible mini-hiatus right around Christmas, so hopefully things will stay on schedule (no writer's strike in the works that I'm aware of).

Glad you're enjoying.

I started from Chapter 1 again, just to keep the flow going. Between your knife pass and Phil's gal's heel blade, I don't know which one I like more. I love seeing the little things like that. Unspoken messages that rock.

I liked it. It develops a new understanding as well as a new feeling for the characters. That way, when they end up in compromising and dangerous situations, you feel it more than just a straight up battle scene. Where you'd have to forego, or imagine for yourself, their mindsets and feelings, you put them out there ahead of time, adding more to the drama.

Ubercool.

Also, I love seeing the TTBP in any fashion.

Really liking the Short-Fuze and Doc customs, Spinny. And with almost all of my favorite tv shows going into reruns it's good to follow a weekly "show" of sorts! Keep up the great work!

The conversation in the medical ward was quite possibly the most natural sounding dialouge I've ever read in a dio story. It just oozed character. Just like the pain, Duke took Stalker's insults on the chin and didn't flinch.

I hate to say it but you've upped my standards for how a Dio ought to be...this of course means that I've got to work twice as hard at building my custom Pit dio since I already had the idea of an update starting at the very beginning and I wanted my own interpretation of the Pit and the Joe team in its infancy.

That was great chapter- I really enjoyed that as much as I have any comic issues (of the same matter- little action, lots of dialogue). Well done once again, Ray.

Really glad you guys appreciate all the character development.

The diverse cast has always been the most appealing part of the Joe mythos for me.

Late to the party as always.... I found this chapter to be another great addition to the saga.

I'm loving most of your custom figures in this dio-verse. The tweaks to Doc are fantastic as is the updated look for Short-Fuse. For some reason I'm still not 100% sold on the Mindbender head for Gung-Ho but I LOVE Cutter, Deep Six, and your Hawk figure has me wishing that Hasbro made THAT version in a comic pack.

You've come along way from your first chapter of "Beginnings"-- with elegantly simple yet effective sets and some fantastic customs. However, your story-telling is just as strong as it was in the beginning-- which is what keeps me (and a lot of us) reading. Keep up the truly fantastic work!
