My old Marvel thread was starting to get pretty cumbersome, so I thought I'd start a new one to mark the end of the first 10 years of Marvel movies. I'm kicking it off with a character for whom I was actually pretty happy with my custom until, after a re-viewing of Infinity War, my daughter asked me "Why's Rocket so chubby?" Here's my second swipe at Rocket Raccoon, aiming to replicate his look from Infinity War: Attachment: This was a complete re-engineering of a non-articulated cake topper I had picked up on a whim. I carved and built joints for the torso, head and arms, then replaced the lower body and legs using a Guardians micro figure (Nova corps) and the arms from an old Superhero Showdown Elektra figure (her hands are his feet). After that I added some pockets and other detail and completely repainted. Here's a comparison with pre-weight-loss Rocket: Attachment: And here's a shot of him with the crew he ran with in Infinity War: Attachment: What do you guys think? Better? |

He's so happy! Like he snagged somebody's robotic limb. |

Looks solid! I can't think of a way to do it to make them look subtle enough, but whiskers would put this custom into the stratosphere. |

Thanks for the comments, guys. Here's my next entry in the MCU 10-year collection: Attachment: Iron Spider is mostly a straight-up repaint of the ML 2-pack version that came out around the release of Homecoming. I had to make some holes in his back for the armatures from the MU Iron Spider, and I used plastic tape to lay down the framework for his updated chest symbol. Here he is with the guys he hang out with in Infinity War: Attachment: And here he is sharing a tearful goodbye with his mentor before disintegrating: Attachment: What do you guys think? |

Thanks, guys. I figure you need a hug after you face a guy like Thanos. And maybe a change of pants. Which brings me to... Attachment: My son's been on me to make an MCU Thanos for almost a year now. And the one I bought off eBay as a placeholder was just too darned big to fit with my customs. So I took what I could from that (arms and lower legs and bashed the heck out of it with an old MU Thanos, a Marvel: Now Hulk and a whole bunch of Green Stuff. To give you a sense of scale, here he is beating some different green stuff out of my custom Hulk: Attachment: And here's a recreation of perhaps my favorite moment from Infinity War: Attachment: What do you guys think? |

Realized the head was sitting a little high after posting, so I've since carved it out a bit to make his neck feel less delicate toward the top. |

Thanks, D. Glad you dig him. Here's one last shot with the head sitting like it ought to and my Infinity War Cap and Iron Man customs: Attachment: Cap's got a Joe head (with sculpted beard), lower arms and arm shields. Iron man's pretty much a repaint of the last Legends 1:18 offering with the head off an Avengers Assemble cartoon Iron Man. |

Post subject: | Re: MCU 10th Anniversary Customs: Ragnarok Revisited |
Thanks for the kind words on His Purpleness, guys. Since the next Avengers movie is likely a time travel tale, I'm rolling back the clock to Ragnarok this week. In fact, I'm going to rock around the clock starting with this guy: Attachment: Korg is just a repaint of the Legends 1:18 offering with some head resculpting and some faux leather wraps on his ankles. But I like him. Next I made some mods to the Thor that came in the 1:18 Ragnarok 2-pack: Attachment: Specifically I extended his height a bit with some new upper legs, increased their articulation by replacing the front flap of his tunic, and gave him a better set of hands so he can hold the custom weaponry I set him up with. Last but certainly not least, Thor's friend from work: Attachment: Work was the operative word with this guy.I built him on the same buck as my default Hulk custom (the 6-plus-incher from the Ed Norton movie) but shaved his thighs clean and green. Then I adapted some of the armor from the puny Hulk that came in that Ragnarok 2-pack and stole some weapons off a 7-inch Asian knock-off Hulk from eBay. The arm armor was built from several of those shoulder pads from the Heavy Weapon Iron Grenadier and some random belts. Helmet was an Indiana Jones artifact. And the sandals are half green stuff, half plastic brown tape. |

Not sure I ever knew there was a Korg figure, but your custom is another homerun. Can’t wait til Luke sees it. Ragnarok was a great movie and Korg is hilarious in it. If I say “piss off ghost!” He’ll laugh for a half hour. Lol Speaking of time travel I just now took a closer look at that Spidey. First, I love the homecoming figure and switched my customs to that Spidey straightaway myself. But I assumed there must have been a rerelease I missed before I read closer and saw that’s your paint job. Outstanding |
