#30 Ice Storm

This is 2011's Ice Storm, somewhat hybridized with the later GIJCC version, plus a backpack.

This is a character who really needed to be drawn in an environment to showcase his rescue skills. The wall of ice immediately lets you know he's a cold weather specialist of some variety. As you might be able to tell, I know nothing about mountaineering. Maybe this is something done with a climbing rope; maybe it's not.

You might also notice that I placed the light source in a spot it shouldn't really be in relation to the shadows and lighting. However, sometimes art requires that reason be ignored.

More good stuff. Suggestion: Start a thread with all these together or a get a gallery going for them online somewhere!

I'd been working on making a template of the old GI Joe trading cards, this seemed like a great piece to try it out on.

Thanks, everyone!

And DotD, wow! The Ice Storm art is probably my most developed piece so far, since it seemed like the character really needed to be shown in a real (not surreal) environment. But dropping the art inside of your frame makes my brain melt I like it so much. To say that it takes the art up a notch is an understatement.

I am truly flattered.

And as far as a gallery, that was one of the driving ideas of the whole project. As a failed comic book artist with only a little nibble of professional success, I've given up on ever getting hired. But doing these drawings is a good way to do something creative (aside from customize, of course). I have the entire first year's worth of artwork drawn/inked/colored right now. So right after I have the first 52 posted feels like the right time to pop out a website.
