#50 Night Creeper Leader

In the DIC cartoon, the Night Creepers had a leader, who looked nothing like the later Night Creeper Leader action figure. Instead, it was a night creeper design modified with a hooded mask and goggles. The character may have been created for the show to fill the "Bad Ninja" slot that Storm Shadow did during the Sunbow run.

This artwork is based on my custom figure.

On most of my artwork, I've been scaling down. The original artwork is usually around 11" x 17" inches, then scaled down. For this artwork, I've worked at a much smaller scale and tried to make it looser in appearance. The proportions are sloppy and I don't care. Sometimes working fast creates mistakes that look good. This doesn't look good, though. But it was interesting to work in a different approach.

something does look odd with him, but I can't put my finger on it. maybe he needs to be angled to put his (larger) hand closer? the background looks like old 3d books, or the ones where you stare and see an image, I could never see them.

the lines and shading are great though especially in the torso.

The blade is off. Too long for a knife, too short for a sword. The knee angled at the camera is too large- it just looks swollen. Obviously not my best piece so far, but mixing up styles always works best in the long run. This is a character I might ear-mark to revisit down the road.

I think if you were to shrink the right hand and entire right leg it will come around.
