Just finished this one up, this is a PARTLY lbc of Lambert from ALIEN. I don't much like the skin-tone, but I just got to a point where I wanted to be done. If I added anymore paint, it would all get scratched off around the joints (which it's already doing. Try as I might, I just could NOT get the skin tone of the head to match the neck/arms of the MTF body. I could have also sanded off the hair and sculpted something more accurate to the movie, but I just didn't want to. She is posed with a custom ALIEN creature which is a modified Hot Toys snap-kit ALIENS warrior.

looks good to me, the skin tone is matched pretty well. often the color of some ones face is a lot different than their body. some of my favorite skin tones I've painted have green and blue under a white wash.

I understand about the paint rub.especially on parts that are perfect but drastically the wrong color. I used to worry about it, but now I just forge ahead. i'm not selling my work so if I get "character" from taking pics or posing it doesn't bother me. it's all about the picture for me too, so it might be different if I was a collector making figures to go along with factory pieces.

Thanks 2DARK, I feel mostly the same way. It's for me, not resale, so I'll do the best I can. But at the same time it bugs me because I KNOW it's off. So I painted the face to match as best I could and then used dry brushing and a wash of a single, flesh color to get it all to look somewhat even.

The Hot Toys snap-kits were basicly shipped in pieces...not like a model where everything's on sprues, it was all separated so all one had to do was "snap" the bits together. I think they often do this so the item falls into a "model" category so they have lower tarrifs or import taxes placed on them.

The skin tones look fine. They might be a bit off, but you -as the artist- are the only person who will notice it.

Great use of the Storm Shadow legs, too!

Thank you sir! I had to do lots of modifications to the MTF hip connectors so they would accept the legs, and even then I had to use some boiling water because they were spread way to far apart....almost like she was mid-way into a split. Once I did that, the upper leg parts had a big separation in them so I had to fill them with puffy acrylic paint to fill the gaps. It's kind of a mess but there wasn't really much of a way around this. I suppose I could have used putty to fill the gaps....guess I just got lazy.

And you are right, we as the artists/creators of these things, we are our own worst critics.
