I recognize the Leatherneck (later year) head, the Armadillo torso, and the Ripper feet. What waist and thighs are those? Following this as I need a Machete too. |

The hands were too damaged so I cut them off and replaced them, not sure who the new hands are from. Technically he should have gloves, but I decided to go with bare hands for playability's sake. |

Ok, small update. Still working on Machete, I had a couple setbacks. This custom has taken me longer to finish than I expected. I finished painting his head, the eyes took longer to do since I'm out of practice. Then I had to scrap his replacement hands, they just didn't fit right so I went with hands from a pair of Rapid fire arms that had really faded elbows. I'm trying satin mod podge as a sealer for the first time to protect the hip joints from rubbing. That's my biggest fear with these new customs I'm doing this year. In the meantime I've decided to start working on my next custom, Pantano - based on Jogunwarror's awesome take on the character. I've had him put together for awhile, just had to choose some appropriate legs and replace the neck. I prepped/sanded the parts last night and started painting today. Painting white always sucks.

Thanks, though I can't take all the credit - http://www.joecustoms.com/customs/custo ... P&id=13427 I had another setback with Machete, I had to redo one of his thigh pieces because the paint scratched immediately after having his legs together for a few minutes. I'm guessing one thin coat of mod podge wasn't enough. |

Sorry for the lack of updates. Unfortunately the mod podge failed to protect the paint on machete's upper legs where they connect to the waist, so I had to strip all the paint off and start over . I also had to start over with pantano, the white paint was not coating very good, so that's being stripped as well. I'm going to be trying something else once I get the parts cleaned off and repainted. In the meantime I've decided to switch gears a bit and put together a new building for my photography. I'm using leftover scraps of pink insulation foam from previous diorama projects. Once I had the walls cut and glued together, I coated everything in black, then I added texture to the foam using the crumpled tinfoil method and layers of white acrylic paint applied with a sponge. There will be a window, an opening door, a vent, pipes, a junction box, and topped off with a corrugated roof.

Which version of Mod Podge are you using? I've heard of Mod Podge, seen it in stores, picked a container up and looked at it, but never used any. Is it a reliable asset for a customizer? What uses is it for? |
