So I have been slowly getting back into customizing after a few years of intense costume building (thanks global pandemic). I have a few figures in the works and one maybe finished. But for my reintroduction back into the community I want to share a couple small pieces I worked on today.
These are both simple Chap Mei style shields I got in some TRU True Heroes set or a trade or something. Regardless, they have both been in my fodder for several years. What better way to test the old customizing muscles than a couple simple accessory repaints.
The lion shield I picture as belonging to some sissy boy king who has never seen a battlefield but likes to pretend he’s tough. This is a decorative shield he’d had gilded and encrusted with jewels and hang next to his throne.

This second shield is the opposite. It belonged to a mid-level knight who could afford sturdy armor but nothing fancy. Its seen battles and shows its scars through the simple paint. It will be passed down father to son as they serve the crown.

I’m really happy with both of these. I think the colors and paint application help tell their stories. The gold leaf and red eyes in contrast to the bare metal and chipped paint showing the dichotomy of medieval war.
Any way, more stuff coming as I continue being socially distanced like everyone else.
