About what age is she, and what did she think of the class? Did you do a figure as well?
I'm pretty sure my little customizer is still a little young to really follow along but I'm eager to find out how another parent felt like it went.
Well, she’s at the age where she thinks she’s an adult who knows everything and her opinion matters on every topic, but still watches almost all Disney shows when she isn’t watching youtube channels of other people playing video games, opening blind box toys, and/or making fun of other people’s videos.
I didn’t do a figure so I could be her “assistant”, her word not mine. I wasn’t sure what to expect, whether they’d too fast or ask people to do things she couldn’t do. She started out really hesitant the first class, afraid to make mistakes and “mess things up”. But she got a few encouraging comments along the way and saw and read (over my shoulder) how some of the adults had some slight issues color matching and was trying to do tiny details by the end. Not pictured because she ended up not liking it and painted back over it, but she did paint the super thin gauntlet straps a shade of brown, something not even Boss Fight does.
So while she was painting I was cleaning her brushes, mixing paint (only that first class), hair dryer parts she painted because of the humidity, going to grab tools like alligator clips or tooth picks or a random figure to hold parts, getting us drinks, or typing questions she was asking me for BossFight to answer or questions I thought other people might be interested in or reminding Erich and Erik to show the camera how things are supposed to look.
She had a blast and it killed like 6 hours over 4 Tuesdays. Since all of her after school stuff and friend hang outs are off the table, it gave her something to look forward to each week. And yeah, I got to see her growth in real time as a customizer from timid to “I got this!”
With that said, I don’t think we’d do it again if it is just like this. Not that it was bad at all, but she thinks she’s ready to go through their store and pick out her own set of parts to customize a character of her choosing. I guess we’ll have to see what they come with. I mean who knows, maybe I do the class following along and she does her character right next to me.
